BASEBALL- 3/9/14 - Pitt vs North Carolina ....

game 3 of the 3 game ACC weekend series .... NC won both games of the DH yesterday ..... Pitt was respectable.

Pitt 0 North Carolina 0, end of the 1st inning .........

3 up and 3 down for both teams ..... Joe Harvey on the mound for Pitt ..... they are trying to make a starter out of their top short reliever .... Harvey has a big league arm, so I guess Jordano feels they need him to face ACC competition.

North Carolina 1 Pitt 0, end of 2 innings ....

two out double by NC scores a run.... 3 up and 3 down for Pitt again in the 2nd.

Pitt scores 3 in the top of the 3rd .....

2 run RBI double by Wolsonovich and a sac fly by Vazquez .... NC coming to bat in the bottom of the 3rd, Pitt up 3-1.

Not sure how many innings that Harvey will be able to pitch .....

he has been a short reliever the last couple years .... he is pitching well today through 3 innings but it remains to be seen how far he can go.

and NC leading 4-3 ..... Belfiglio coming in to pitch for Harvey ...... looked like Harvey had a strikeout for the 3rd out but called a ball and then the hitter got a single.

I was watching that play and thought "crap he's safe" and then realized it was the UNC coach with the safe sign not the ump. LOL Pitt is playing well but we're a year or so from this top talent in the ACC.

Pitt scores one in the 7th .... tied 4-4, 7th inning stretch ....

Wolsonovich with a sac fly ..... his 3rd RBI today ! .... Vazquez struck out to end the inning and strand a runner on 2nd.

Pitt 4 North Carolina 4, end of 7 innings .......

Harris came in and got the last out in the 7th ...... Belfiglio pitched well in the 6th and 7th...... Belfiglio is a "junk" pitcher, mostly off speed curves .... I think his fastball is only in the upper 70's/lower 80's.

Fly out to LF .... PITT WINS 6-4 !!!!!!!!!!!... 1st ACC win for Pitt !!!!!.

Pitt 1-2 against NC but nice win today and we looked like we belonged all weekend !

salvaged one game out of the weekend series but looked like we belonged all weekend !

5-7 overall and 1-2 in the ACC.

North Carolina was ranked #16 going into the weekend.
