Baylor Fires Art Briles

Thank Goodness. It's about time, but I'm sure they only did this because their backs were pressed against the wall. What a scummy, scummy program - makes it even scummier because they are a "religious" school.

Religious schools are worse when dealing with sexual assault. Look at what's happening at BYU.

Awhile back I was having a conversation on this board, maybe with Captain, and I mentioned winning in the B12 really became hard with the rise of TCU and Baylor. I then mentioned I hoped Patterson would leave TCU for a bigger job, and that I had a feeling Baylor would get hit with a big NCAA sanction and maybe force out Briles.

I didn't know anything about this situation at the time, just a gut feeling things at Baylor were too good to be true.

Now before any of you ask, yes, if WVU fires Dana at the end of the season, I hope they hire Briles....so suck it :D

Shame on their Board of Trustees. How could they capitulate here?

Also, that report is clearly full of holes and a clear attempt to smear a good man's name. I will prove it when I get around to reading it.

Somebody call John Ziegler and get him on this case, stat!

Didn't the former Baylor basketball coach cover up a murder??

Or was he simply defending his player who was accused of murder??

Well, we know who Penn State's next HC will be after Franklin gets fired.

He did some true scumbag sh** but I don't recall all the particulars. Google Dave Bliss. And what you'll also find is that he was fairly recently hired to coach some small college. Which is sickening.

Grant Teaff: "Not pleased". Maybe Chip & Diana Gaines will move to Lubbock or Ft. Worth??

Baylor's 'Findings of Fact' are absolutely damning:

  • Members of the Baylor football staff repeatedly and actively refused to report sexual assault allegations to the proper administrators, and what investigations did happen "were conducted in the context of a broader culture and belief by many administrators that sexual violence ‘doesn’t happen here.’ Administrators engaged in conduct that could be perceived as victim-blaming, focusing on the complainant’s choices and actions, rather than robustly investigating the allegations, including the actions of the respondent.”
  • In some instances, football staff members met directly with accusers or parents of the accusers, and still did not report the allegations.
  • University administrators directly discouraged complainants from reporting or participating in the student conduct process. “In one instance, those actions constituted retaliation against a complainant for reporting sexual assault.”
  • Football staff members conducted their own improper investigations into sexual assault reports, which “improperly discredited complainants and denied them the right to a fair, impartial and informed investigation, interim measures or processes promised under University policy. In some cases, internal steps gave the illusion of responsiveness to complainants but failed to provide a meaningful institutional response under Title IX.”

And to think some posters on here want to adopt the 'win at all costs' mindset...

You guys forgot "A jealous woman-scorned court reporter changed Briles' testimony from 'It was something sexual?' to 'It was something sexual.' "

Tips for Baylor:
- Build a statue of Art Briles.
- Put a halo on it
- Blame someone else...the players...they did the wrong
- Art Briles must not have known...no proof he knew...coach shouldn't be fired
- Get an insurance company to pay the victims
- Pretend it never happened
- Ignore the victims and their lives

He covered up a murder. One of his players murdered a teammate so it wasn't simply a case of "having his player's back and standing by him".

He attempted to circulate and substantiate rumors that his player who was murdered was a drug dealer (he wasn't).

i predict briles will be back in coaching in 24 months. he will be in power 5, HC position, in 36 months. really there is no bottom floor in these matters- unless they have pictures of you with a minor in a closet-or someone hears rhythmic body slapping in the showers at holuba hall.

In addition to firing the football coach, they're also removing the university president, Kenneth Starr, best known previously for Whitewater. (Well, they're actually more like shoving him aside as opposed to out the door, but that's still so very unlike some institution in Centre County, Pennsylvania.)

No. Starr was known for his impeachment witch hunt of Clinton for.....Monica Lewinsky.

Hard to argue with the rationale for this. Will certainly be interesting to see the impact of this move on the BU football program moving forward.
It will be the haymaker. They had their 15 minutes, you won't be hearing from them again for a long time.

Most of this sounds like Penn State in the 1970's.

He found the witch in the POTUS's bed. Her name was Hillary....champion of women...unless you were one of the whores, skanks, opportunistic bitches, etc that good ole Bill cheated on her with...then she ripped to shreds in public...degrading them and their story.

As usual, you mushmouths miss the point.

Starr had no issue prosecuting sex with Clinton but couldn't be bothered with investigating sexual assault at the school where he was hired to do what's In the best interests of the school and students.

But he couldn't find the abusers in his football program?
