OSU just announced they will be selling it stadium wide this year. It's also known that Pitt will to. Why haven't they announced yet?
Ummm, because they aren't?OSU just announced they will be selling it stadium wide this year. It's also known that Pitt will to. Why haven't they announced yet?
Ummm, because they aren't?
Except, of course, in the Club seats, as in years past.
Wrong. They will be all over the stadium.
I'm confident enough in the source that I would wager the last dime to my name. It's suprising that only a few people have posted about it on here the past few months.
Because it will affect attendance not at all?
W
A while ago .Were you ever a man?
Well it might help the atmosphere and make Pitt money
It may not but it will make the crowd louder and more loose with enthusiasm for a home field advantage. It will also generate revenue that can be used to endow every single scholarship in every single sport over time. That's how it needs to be presented.A while ago .
But , fortunately I have been able to buy alcohol in my seats to compensate .
And I'm 100% certain the ability to buy $9 bud lights won't add attendance .
And like I said...It may not but it will make the crowd louder and more loose with enthusiasm for a home field advantage. It will also generate revenue that can be used to endow every single scholarship in every single sport over time. That's how it needs to be presented.
Someone posted here that the math played out that likely every game could endow one scholarship for 5-10 years. I'm all for that as its a competitive advantage for the Athletic Balance Sheet.
Others will say "who on earth would pay $8 for a beer" ? My guess is 20,000 people will buy one to watch us play Villanova on a blazing hot 88 degree steamy September day.
My final thought: which wedding has a better atmosphere, a dry one or where the beer is flowing? I don't need alcohol to have fun but it doesn't hurt.
I sit in the Club seats on occasion and I will just say they are (in general ) older, quiet, less fun and is why I prefer section 109. Generating revenue at the Movie theater is about keeping tickets lower and allowing patrons the choice to buy expensive concessions. People like choices but get them in the door. I'm all for raising ticket prices and in particular Club Prices but all others too.And like I said...
Do you consider the club level and luxury suite crowd to be the most enthusiastic?
As none of us know what concession contract Pitt currently has as part of their lease, the accounting projections are essentially fantasy.
You know what else would improve our athletic balance sheet?
Increasing the price of each ticket by $9 per game...my money is on that being more impactful.
I remember reading an article where countries that consume far more beer than wine directly correlates to more Industrial Production. Makes sense.Light beer has really ruined the country, there is a strong correlation between the introduction/consumption of light beer and our country's productivity/status in the world. If I ever go to college I will be writing my thesis on this intriguing correlation.
A serious question: if Pitt sells beer to the masses, does Pitt get to keep the money from the beer sales? Or is that contractually a Steelers/Rooney revenue source?Well it might help the atmosphere and make Pitt money

So...alcohol doesn't make them more enthusiastic and rowdy? The Club Level Crowd in many instances is the "be seen" crowd. Same with the crowd in the Club section of the Pete. They are there to stand by the bar, drink overpriced drinks and talk to other Pitt grads about how important each other are.
It will help the atmosphere.......go straight to the bottom.Well it might help the atmosphere and make Pitt money
Ah. A birdie then. We all know how reliable those are.....snickerWrong. They will be all over the stadium.

That's my one fear of sitting in club, well that and because im cheap.. is that i'll spend the whole game at the bar, drinking $8 dollar beers, watching pitt on tv.. It doesn't make sense but I know myself.. Awhile back, im with my buddy at a pitt-usf game, he's a pitt swimmer alumni, so the swimmers rent out that little outside bar in the great hall area (or whatever you call it) and I go in with him, and we just stay in that little area the whole damn game.. Im about 80 bucks into it when I realize it's the second half and I have yet to go to my seats..Despite Souf knowing all - have had many casual Pitt fans decline non-clubs tickets so they could go to bar and watch game while continuing to drink
Ravens stadium is pretty cool with the fact that they have little portable bar set ups, right outside the stadium, that offer beer and of course liquor.. They are literally right outside the stadium.. Im assuming they are controlled by Aramark (or whoever the vendor is).. Not sure why other stadiums don't do this. If you've ever been to Heinz on one of those rib fest days, imagine the little bars being right where the rib set up is or even on the other side, in the grass, by the science center.. Maybe they don't have control of the parking lots and the ravens do, not sure..Fans want choices according to the fan surveys. Beer is no big deal and will be offered. No liquor like in the club but controlled beer sales throughout the stadium.
So, your friends will now go into the stadium to buy beer and watch live? Doubt it.Despite Souf knowing all - have had many casual Pitt fans decline non-clubs tickets so they could go to bar and watch game while continuing to drink
Increasing attendance isn't the main priority for beer sales, increased revenue is.. Cant imagine too many people believing our attendance will increase because of accessibility of over priced coors light in a plastic cup..So, your friends will now go into the stadium to buy beer and watch live? It seems are arguing it will, which is dumbfounding.Increasing attendance isn't the main priority for beer sales, increased revenue is.. Cant imagine too many people believing our attendance will increase because of accessibility of over priced coors light in a plastic cup..
yeah, not going along with that argument. The decline in demand for club seats is an interesting argument.. The beer/booze option is a very big selling point for those seats.. Hope that it doesn't negatively impact this, If this goes thru..It seems are arguing it will, which is dumbfounding.
Revenue..maybe it will, maybe it won't. Depends on the contract.
And of course..with demand of club seats then declining..always the possibility that donation levels drop.
Maybe you're right, but it goes against all rules of marketing because IF Pitt was implementing this they would have announced it BEFORE they opened up general sales, right? I mean if it was about increasing attendance why would they wait?Wrong. They will be all over the stadium.
I'm confident enough in the source that I would wager the last dime to my name. It's suprising that only a few people have posted about it on here the past few months.
to sell the club seats before announcing it in fear of people downgrading their seats out of club boxes since they can get beer anywhere now?Maybe you're right, but it goes against all rules of marketing because IF Pitt was implementing this they would have announced it BEFORE they opened up general sales, right? That's why I said after general sales, but you could be right too. I have contended all along that it makes no sense for Pitt to open up beer to everyone until they have consistently sold out their club seats since that is one of the main perks and because club seats require a donation to the University.to sell the club seats before announcing it in fear of people downgrading their seats out of club boxes since they can get beer anywhere now?
im reaching on that.. souf brought it up as a possible consequence, I think it's a reach to assume this..That's why I said after general sales, but you could be right too. The single reason I would get Club Seats is for the Shade with proximity to Field. Booze is not a draw. Club Seats are not the best seats to watch the game and in General, the group are sedated and I feel guilty cheering. The expense is not an obstacle but the buttoned up crowd is for more passionate fans.yeah, not going along with that argument. The decline in demand for club seats is an interesting argument.. funny you say that.. I was in club for pitt-Miami last year and you are right, a very quiet, reserved fan.. Of course the game sucked and there wasn't much to cheer about so that could be it..The single reason I would get Club Seats is for the Shade with proximity to Field. Booze is not a draw. Don't get me wrong, the Club is great for hot, cold, rainy days but one has to deal with a more conservative crowd. They should actually make chunks of the Club the Family Area and make it Non-drinking.

The "down in front" crowd is alive and well..It's why I sit there...
too many years sitting next to miserable yinzers who complain all game long.
I'll opt for the more reserved and less miserable lot.
