They absolutely will go to more games. You can have a beer at Kennywood. This is such a non issue. Pitt fans want choices and this is going to happen .So, your friends will now go into the stadium to buy beer and watch live? Doubt it.
Just making sure the inability to drink over priced beer is keeping people out of the stadium.Yes that is what I'm saying - compliments on your reading comprehension
A weird concept.. The thought of riding coasters while inebriated is unappealing to me. As much as I like beer, their is a time and a place and kennywood isn't one of them.. yinzers need to learn to take a day off and be a dad for your kids..They absolutely will go to more games. If you cannot stop drinking for 3 hours to watch a football then I feel sorry for you, you might have bigger problems than you are letting onHow many of you know people who chug 2 beers on their walk from the parking spot to the gate because they won't be able to have a beer for another 3 hours?
How many if you know fans that arrive late to the game because they sit in the lots because they won't be able to have another beer for another 3 hours?
How many of you know fans that leave games early to go to a bar or sit in the lot to have a beer for the end of a game (if its not a nailbiter)?
How many of you know fans that won't attend gamed because its stupid to get a buzz, then stop for 3 hours and then drink again after?
I can check all 4 of those boxes. I don't care about club seats, those guys don't make the gameday experience. As souf admitted, they are the "sit down" crowd and not an accurate representation of the people.
well I can, I just don't want to. .I'll still accept your sympathy though..If you cannot stop drinking for 3 hours to watch a football then I feel sorry for you, you might have bigger problems than you are letting on
Why do you mention "overpriced beer"? Do people drive overpriced cars to the game or take overpriced vacations or own overpriced homes ? You should be thrilled it will fund our Athletic Programs for a competitive advantage.Just making sure the inability to drink over priced beer is keeping people out of the stadium.
not to speak for souf but beer at sporting events is over-priced.. not getting your car/home/vacation comparison..Why do you mention "overpriced beer"? He's commented on this and it sounds like he might have a problem with people who spend money on things that don't make sense ( to him ) because they are expensive. I hear a few comments like this when people won't spend a dime in a North Shore Restaraunt or Bar because they could drink their less expensive stuff at the tailgate.not to speak for souf but beer at sporting events is over-priced.. not getting your car/home/vacation comparison..
ok, well im with that. I still buy the 8 dollar beers at a buccos game but I shake my head in disgust, at myself mainly. They charge what they do because they can..He's commented on this and it sounds like he might have a problem with people who spend money on things that don't make sense ( to him ) because they are expensive. I guess my point is, if it makes people happy, let them do what they want. Live and Let live.
obviously not because if it did, they'd lower the price or stop selling it..Isn't everything aramark sells overpriced? Does it stop you from buying it?
I totally agree. You are held hostage. I'm not a big drinker but an ice cold beer at a ball game is a great feeling in my opinion. I actually look forward to disconnecting from the realities of life once in a while and that cold glass of suds tells my brain that I'm not working. Have some fun and relax. You deserve it. America needs to loosen up with being PC.ok, well im with that. I still buy the 8 dollar beers at a buccos game but I shake my head in disgust, at myself mainly. Now going to Disney is like buying a $42 beer at Heinz but that's not stopping anyone.obviously not because if it did, they'd lower the price or stop selling it..

Pretty much.Isn't everything aramark sells overpriced? Does it stop you from buying it?

More likely, fund the catering outfit & the Rooneys, though it was reported here that Pitt keeps all of the "net". OSU will use the profits to add 2 add'l cops......not exactly a big deal. Why do you mention "overpriced beer"? Do people drive overpriced cars to the game or take overpriced vacations or own overpriced homes ? You should be thrilled it will fund our Athletic Programs for a competitive advantage.
Sedate ???? Come to section 210. No one should attend a college football game and not.be loud. Booze or no booze. Beer is just an option and everyone of age should have the choice. It's why I sit there...
too many years sitting next to miserable yinzers who complain all game long.
I'll opt for the more reserved and less miserable lot.
OSU just announced they will be selling it stadium wide this year. It's also known that Pitt will to. Why haven't they announced yet?
You are probably right souf, but on the flip side, I don't see any real downside. Another revenue stream, won't hurt attendance, could help it, and will make the gameeting atmosphere better. Not a solution to all of our problems but a start.Like i said, I'm completely ambivalent about beer throughout the stadium.
It won't be some silver bullet to atmosphere, I assume you the average blood alcohol content of the crowd at Heinz isn't the primary issue/

Def a concern or potential issue. Counter point though, beer is one thing, access to the club lounge/bar is still a big difference than waiting in line at concession on the 5 th level though. The only potential downside and I admit it is a stretch would be alienating a few people who view the alcohol in the club as a privilege for their higher donation/ticket price.
How much of the $8 per beer would Pitt get?
Dude, come on.. you think 1/2 of the fans at a game buy 2 beers each?? That's ridiculous.. Not even 1/2 are of the legal drinking age.. realistically, using 45k for attendance, ''id say maybe 20% are gonna buy any beers, and even that sounds high. They normally don't share their finances with the public. But for shits and giggles, lets make you happy and assume they get screwed by the Roonies and Aramark and only make $1 on the $8. 45k go to every game, lets assume half buy 2 beers on average. Multiply the $45,000 a game times 7 games a year. Why would the university turn down an extra $315,000 a year? Make it $3 out of the $8 and they just made an extra million dollars a year by doing nothing.
I would love to have a few beers during the game and my wife doesn't want to move to the club level because she really likes our long time seats and the folks around us in our section. I'll attend regardless...and it hasn't stopped us from going for the past decade... but it would make it a bit more enjoyable for me as I enjoy a few brews.

I agree, I know you cant walk around the park with an open 16 oz can of Budweiser.. it's allowed in the picnic area only, isolated.. I get it, I just don't understand the need. I like my beer and all but just don't understand the desire to go to a family park and have to drink.. The only reason to go to kennywood is for the kids.. I mean it's not like my buddy is gonna call me and say, hey, let's you and me go to Kennywood today.. It's not something "adults" do unless they have the kids.. I guess maybe high school kids will go, but it's a park for children so why the need or even want for beer? It would be like me wanting the children's museaum to sell beer..Kennywood is not an Disney Epcot scenario with open containers roaming all over the park. The beer area at Kennywood is just a small fenced-in area with a uniformed officer at the entrance and exit with drink limits. Little chance of a drunk person wandering among the general crowds with this close monitoring and the officers at the metal detectors also eyeing and denying entry for noticeable intoxication. Heinz Field's CURRENT environment, with the Club Area and tailgating allowances is already MUCH more liberal than Kennywood.
Kennywood saw the opportunity to make a few extra bucks in revenue, but are very aware that the bread winner for their product is a safe and family-focused environment, so they are extremely protective of it. The violence in neighboring areas have caused enough of a PR black-eye for them in recent years, so they were not going to allow this to have a negative impact.

Therefore no one may have a beer.I agree completely Swervin27. I have had Kennywood season passes with my family since they first offered them about 5 years ago (we formerly lived about 10 minutes from the park). I never purchased, nor really had any big desire to purchase, a beer at Kennywood. I also did not purchase at Epcot when visiting with my 6-year old daughter this winter. I'm not totally against sales, and Kennywood handled the roll-out well; it's just not appealing for me in these environments.
