German went cold at the end and was quieted by the change to zone, but that first half performance was special and got me thinking...

What are the top individual performances from opposing players at the Pete?

Didn’t Quin the guard from Notre Dame go crazy on us like 10 years ago too?

Quinn had 37 points in 2 OTs (and Pitt won).

The Warren performance (41) was greater and beat us.

Before the Pete was the infamous Marco Lokar game (41), Dana Barros (43), and Eric Murdock (48).
How many of Quin’s Points were 3pters?

German was a real nice player. He may be as good as any guard we will see in ACC play this year. We were very fortunate he cooled off late in the game or we would have lost that.

Best defensive performance against a top player I remember was Jaron Brown shutting down Carmelo. Held him to 6-15 shooting and only 3 rebounds in a game where the Orange kept feeding their statr who would over-dribble and get pushed away from the paint by Brown.

Dana Barros had like 20+ points in a row, probably our bad record for a streak.

Julius Page also spent more than a couple minutes on Carmelo that day as well, and deserves a bit of the credit along with Jaron.

Another stellar bit of Page defense was his work the previous year against Miami in the Big East Tournament. He took on 6-10 Hurricane star Darius Rice and held him to 0-5 shooting and no points ... basically he never let him get the ball.

Good call. Julius Page first half against D Wade was epic good. Second half -- yikes

Actually ... Page played more on Deiner in the second half while Brown played more on Wade.

But no one was stopping Wade that night in the second half.

Good memory. I just remember telling my Marquette friend about how we had this defensive stopper Julius Page who would lock up Wade and the second half not being like the first. I was right at least for a few minutes but...

I was there for the game in Minnesota plus I’ve rewatched that game countless times.

Especially ... the last five minutes to appreciate Brandin Knight’s brilliance to bring the Panthers back from an 11 point deficit in the last five minutes. In that time he had 6 points and 4 assists.

was at that game as well. stayed at the hotel with the panthers. our coach left shortly after. Brown was all over D Wade, who made incredible plays. I also have vivid memory of B. Knight bringing the Panthers back. His last game as a Panther, I believe ?

Yes ... his last game ... 16 points and a season high 11 assists.

Something was wrong with the karma in the world than night as his attempted three to win did not go down.
