Best Interception in PITT History

Was that Stan Savran on the play-by-play for the PSU Game?

I love Carlton Williamson but Billy Owens was a no doubt about it. I enjoyed a very nice dinner from my boss shortly after that.

Anytime we beat PSU I'm a happy camper. Speaking of Short isn't he coaching the quips in some capacity I thought I read that. My favorite beat down of PSU was the Randy McMillan ran around them and went through them at Happy Valley.

CW's interception took place between two teams in the top 5. Billy Owens......nowhere near as significant a game.

Although the Billy Owens celebration is the good stuff about CFB

When Jackie Sherrill Intercepted Tony Dorsett, Walt Harris Intercepted Larry Fitzgerald, Dave Wannstedt Intercepted Shady McCoy, and Bobby Engram Intercepted Tyler Boyd away from Penn State?

All Four were Great Pitt Is It Recruits & Players in College & soon Boyd in the NFL!

I STAND CORRECTED, HUMBLY HUMBLY, I MIGHT ADD, PLEASE FORGIVE ME, YOU'RE ARE CORRECT SIR, They are Recruits & Players that broke NCAA, NFL, and Players Of The Years for Years!

If they had been Penn State Material, they would have been NFL Draft Busts?

My favorite beatdown of PSU will be the next one. My second favorite was the last one.

Man we need that series back, not just for 4 years, but forever.

Maybe I'm dreaming but I remember a fumble return that just electrified a stadium. Didn't Jeff Delaney return a fumble around 98 yards against Army to turn the game around and allow the PA announcer to give the word that Michigan had lost and Pitt was number 1?

It was Penn State. It doesn't get more significant. The Billy Owens pick six tops them all.

I was referring to the actual pick and not the significance of it. Short's pick was an athletic marvel. I believe he is still coaching.

no

1981...Carlton Williamson sealing it at Happy Valley
That was 1980
But yeah he sealed the deal

Also loved Bob Jury that cold night At 3 Rivers against State College too.
He hit the ground bounced up in the air and slammed that ball to the turf!!!!
Never forgot that play

Let's be clear....in terms of athletic performance the OP brings a great choice

In terms of "memorable"....yea ....Billy Owens....

But meaningful? Significant? How do you top CW.....at happy valley winning a game between Top 5 teams? And beating your rival PSU in their house?

As an honorable mention
........David Sumner with a late 4th quarter pick to seal the Miami game in Walt first year????

Well, just saw Coach Narduzzi intercept two Players in Hamlin & Matthews from the Dominatrix and his OC & OL Coaches too???

The answer is Carlton Williamson all the way. That game was between two top 5 teams. Frankly, it's no contest.

As an aside:
1.) Those are the best uniforms Pitt has ever worn. They just screamed BAD ASS!
2.) Penn State's offense was more sophisticated in 1980 than it was in 2015.
3.) Kenny Jackson and Curt Warner were great players for Penn State.
4.) If you go to the 2:17 mark, that's when the action really heats up. Pitt's defensive team speed was IMPRESSIVE!
5.) The No. 48 looks cool as hell on a DB.
6.) Listening to George Paterno whine after a Penn State loss was so, so much fun. His tears still rejuvenate me all these years later.
