1982 Sugar Bowl - Marino to Brown!! So sweet after the debacle.

1977 Sugar Bowl - won the 1976 national championship.

13-9 was great because it prevented WVU from a shot at the national championship, but PITT had no shot at a bowl game. this win was excellent because it made PITT bowl eligible, with momentum heading toward the final quarter of a season in which PITT has had some really hard-fought losses. Hopefully PITT can build off of the momentum and beat Duke and Syracuse at home, followed by a solid bowl game. Recruiting should be interesting the next couple months.

Could you imagine what heinz field would if looked like for the last 2 games. What the local media would have sounded like. What this board would of looked like.

This game was huge on so many levels. It was just as huge as PSU, but both of those games equal the 13-9, IMO.

I'll be happy with 8-4 and wins against PSU & #2 on the road. Pitt has to finish at home vs. two beatable teams to not make this game meaningless ! !

I'd compare this game to 7-7 in 1973, and 303 in 1975. The first game announced that Pitt was back from being absolutely dead, and the second let everyone know that Pitt had rejoined the elite. This game serves a similar purpose. Pitt is now a program to keep an eye on.
