After all of the debating with friends and coworkers, I called Pitt a fringe top 25-30 job/program in terms of college basketball.
I was mostly scoffed or laughed at.
So I put together a list of places I deemed “better” college basketball jobs/programs. It’s tricky because you can look at history or current, or a combination of the two.
Duke
Louisville
UNC
Norte Dame
Syracuse
Virginia
Kansas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas
West Virginia
Butler
Villanova
Xavier
Illinois
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan state
Ohio state
Purdue
Wisconsin
Arizona
Oregon
Stanford
UCLA
Florida
Kentucky
Tennessee
Cincinnati
UConn
Temple
Wichita State
Gonzaga
Georgetown
Thoughts or additions/subtractions to this list? The keyword is better. And even some of these I don’t know that is truly the case. Teams like Marquette, Virginia Tech etc I consider on par. So I’m showing roughly 30 schools I would consider better jobs/destinations in respect to college basketball. (There’s 34 above but I think the last few are pretty close)
Something to debate while we wait for this coaching search to end
