For people blaming the HC and OC for Kirk mishandling 3 snaps which has costed us 11 points...what is your thought process?

The guy is having a complete meltdown and can’t handle the football. His two jobs on this team are to catch the ball, take three steps and punt it or kneel on the ground, catch the ball and place it on the ground while making sure the laces are out...

Those outside runs are asinine, who calls them, the punter ?

At the end of the day, it’s a 1 possession game and Pitt has gashed then with the run. Need a big stop to open the half and then find a way to make something happen in the pass game to find some balance with the run game.

My complaint is that there should be a quarterback handling the holding duties, not some one who doesn't handle the ball. Plus if their is a bad snap or if you want to fake you have a passer to give you the best chance.

Do you expect the team to score on every possession?? You can’t call the same power every down. The defense will pick up.

Played college ball, usually the punters always handle the balls on kicks. Very rarely will you ever see a QB being the placeholder

Amen. No question

PSU is truly a mediocre coached team. Pitt doesn't have anywhere close to the talent than PSU has but they still should be ahead. The punter has lost his mind and the QB seems afraid to pass the ball, would rather scramble. I am wondering if the wet ball is affecting him as well. That interception he threw was awful.

The INT was bad, but he’s been under a hell of a lot of pressure and the WR’s don’t look like they’re getting any kind of separation.

Played college ball,

I'll bet I played as much college ball as you and we always had a QB or WR handling those duties. Maybe it is a generational thing. How is it working out for Pitt?

See all those skill players standing on the sideline who will never play? It is a good idea to use them, this ain't the NFL

Played 6 years. Unless our punter was banged up we never used anyone, but the punter.

In high school we used out QB, but that was because in most cases the Punter is the kicker. Well let’s see the punter made 3 horrid mistakes, so clearly not well.

Name one team in college that uses a WR as a place holder haha

There were about 60 players and coaches in the Pitt program that turned into instant mashed potatoes tonight. Are we seriously blaming the punter. Rediculous.
Do you realize how many times the PS punter flipped the field position and then how many points our punter cost us? I get it, there is enough blame to go around but he is at the top of the list.

Carrying water still I see. Can't even admit coach took the night off. Wow

The mistakes by the punter were huge in the first half. The coaching gaffe on the fourth-and-goal was a game changer as well. If Pitt goes into the half up 13-7 or even 17-7, that is a different second half. That wasn't the case and the team imploded. Pitt doesn't have enough talent to overcome that many coaching and player miscues and it just snowballed. Awful game, let's move on and hope things are better once ACC play starts.

So, can anyone answer a simple question? I've seen Australian Rules Football, they don't do the whole ''snap, hold, kick'' thing ever in that sport. So why do you assign this guy that role? Out of all the other guys, backup QBs, others who have done this before somewhere, so you send a guy who never did this before, out to do it with a wet ball and field on the second highest level of the sport on prime time TV? I don't know? I just thought it was odd.

Obviously, our punter was a disaster, but both of the snaps he couldn't handle were way off. High and to the left. On a rainy night, snaps like those are pretty tough to handle. Now the muffed punt was all on the kicker.

Cruzer

When janocko dropped the snap, what was the reaction then? He was a qb, so everything should’ve been fine right?

Christodulou practices holding all the time, that’s on him. He dropped a punt too, should someone else have been back there then? The coaching was disgraceful yesterday, absolutely unnaceptable. Those miscues were on Kirk though, not the staff.

More reason you don't assign that task to a guy that never played a game of American Football in his life until last week! Didn't some back up QB do this in high school?

The original holder did not play... broken hand.

The punter F'd up more than once. Pickett looked bad. the coaches F'd up all game long. The players quit in the 4th quarter. The "overrated" Franklin adjusted in the 2nd half etc. etc. PITT got embarrassed.

Who is the normal holder for FGs? I think I heard somewhere the punter is not normally the player who does it?

But to be fair ( and honest),

Yes....a different game to begin the second half.

But PSU is deeper and more talented.

It would have been a better game, but in the end talent wins out.

I think most on this board would agree and accept that.

Think it's the backup kicker, Jake Scarton, who was supposedly injured. How the backup kicker who functions only as a holder gets hurt so bad he can't resume holding duties, I don't know. But who am I to question it.

Was reminded of how some time ago, against the Giants I think, the Steelers' long snapper got hurt in a game and James Harrison had to serve long snapper duties... and mangled a snap that contributed greatly to them losing to the game.

Name one team in college that uses a WR as a place holder haha

"Narduzzi said on Saturday that Christodoulou will be replaced going forward, suggesting that Scarton is likely to miss multiple weeks. Wide receiver Kellen McAlone is the third-string holder and would have gone into the game Saturday if Pitt had another placekicking opportunity...."

If you can't have success passing the ball which Pickett couldn't, Then don't expect the run to work very long. I hope they fix this because if they don't everyone will stack the line of scrimmage and Pitt will be lucky to win 4 games if that. I saw nothing to feel confident that we have the WRs that can help a young QB out by making good catches or even getting open.
