Yeah we are going to go to a bowl. Narduzzi wouldn’t say no.

What are current projections for us.

I am sure we have been falling down the desirability scale but what do yinz say b

Narduzzi could still say no if he wanted to, but Pitt will be playing in a bowl game whether he is there or not.

Fenway, Gasparilla, Birmingham, or Military.

However, with 12 bowl eligible teams (not counting Cal who is in the P12 contract) and only 10 bowls + 1 CFP, there is a chance they dont get picked for an ACC bowl. Bowls don't like teams who lost 5 in a row since those types of fanbases wont buy tickets.

I’ve seen Military, Realiquest, and Holiday.

Some surprising projections too. So in short, no one knows anything until next Sunday after we find out if ACC gets 1 or 2 teams in the playoffs

CBS had us in the Holiday Bowl against Washington

If I had to bet, I'd say Military. I cant see us a decent bowl like the Holiday picking us. We are one of the worst draws right now from a bowl's standpoint since we lost 5 in a row and will sell like 300 tickets.

Yeah, but the ACC doesn't have an attachment to the Holiday Bowl to sell tickets.

Not sure what you mean. The Holiday Bowl will want to sell as many tickets as possible. Nobody is really going to travel well out there but I dont think anyone will sell fewer than Pitt at this point.

I'm saying that when the Holiday Bowl made a deal with the ACC they knew they weren't going to sell a lot of tickets to traveling ACC fans. They signed with the ACC for other reasons. Namely television.

I mean of course they'd rather sell 1,000 tickets than 500. But that money is small potatoes compared to what they make from television.

If VT or NC State sells 1000 tickets and Pitt sells 500, does the Holiday Bowl really go with Pitt because they feel they will turn on more TV sets? We lost 5 in a row.

I'm saying that selling tickets isn't that big a deal. If it was, they would not have signed a deal with the ACC.

When they make their decision, who sells a couple hundred extra tickets really isn't going to matter.

I'd agree that TV is more important for this bowl......but its not realistic to think Pitt is going to get better TV ratings than the VT's and NC State-type teams. So I think they go with the 500 extra tickets.

If it’s the military bowl and it’s Navy we’ll very likely lose and suffer a case of deja vu

Is Cal eligible for that bowl? I would think they would want a California team if available.

But really, no bowl game that isn't part of the playoff matters anymore.

the days of selling tickets having meaning for bowls are thankfully gone, due to the playoffs. Bowl games are good filler TV during the holidays and football always does good ratings during that period. I doubt I ever go to a non-playoff bowl game again.

The old PAC12 teams are still under contract to participate in the old PAC12 bowl games for one more season. So Cal won't be taking an ACC bowl slot, they will still be taking a PAC12 bowl slot.

Here's a link that has the tie ins:

Bowl Tie Ins

The Pac-12 might be gone, resting, or rehabbing, but in the meantime, all of these bowls are still in play for the former member schools in other conferences, along with Oregon State and Washington State.

Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah, and Washington will all be eligible for these bowls.

- Holiday Bowl vs ACC
- LA Bowl vs Mountain West
- Las Vegas Bowl vs SEC
- Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl vs Big 12
- Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl vs ACC
- Valero Alamo Bowl vs Big 12

So I could be a rematch for Pitt and Cal in the Holiday Bowl? Lol.

Or better yet. The Tony the Tiger Bowl!

Who would be sitting out the Bowl.. Yarnell will likely start ? Im sure there will be a lot of opt outs for the bowl with guys transferring out etc...

I highly doubt that. We were just there two years ago, and I think we're slightly below Sun Bowl level.

Assuming its only SMU in the CFP, then the upper tier bowls will be this:

Gator, Orlando, Charlotte, Pinstripe, Sun, Holiday - Clem, Lou, Miami, Syr, Duke, 1 more from the below list

Lower tier bowls will be (Gasparilla, Fenway, Military, Birmingham) - Pitt, GT, BC, NC St, UNC, VT. 1 wouldn't get an ACC bowl.

I would gladly take that easy ride from pgh to annapolis . Cool little town. Military industrial complex. Making an appearance. The midshipmen will be away

I thinking Pitt ends up at Fenway, BC played there last year and I doubt they'd want them again, they'll probably go to the Pinstripe, with NC State going to the Military Industrial Complex Bowl and GT getting the bump up to the higher tier.

Is Detroit the only bowl destination that's worse than Boston/Fenway?

I know everybody says bowl games are meaningless, but I always try to look at it like a little get-away with a Pitt football game as a bonus. Having said that, I ain't going to Boston.

Detroit is inside.

I could see Pitt being relegated to Fenway. I think GT gets the better tier and either Holiday or Sun since no ACC team travels to those places. And GT has no fans but a good TV market.

Whatever is the lowest ranked bowl is where Pitt will be,no one wants to watch this offense on tv
