2020 has sucked for everyone. Nobody wants to see Pitt vs Kentucky or Illinois vs Boston College. Nobody can go to your games anyway. Work with each other to create rivalry matchups like:

Pitt/PSU or Pitt/WVU
Texas/Texas A&M
Florida/Miami
Kentucky/Louisville
etc

It shouldn't have taken 2020 for this to happen. College football should be more regional. With a march madness finish (maybe 10 teams).

Do we really want to play a 0-10 or 0-8 Penn State team. Go Cornhuskers. Keep the streak going.

Holy hell. I thought for sure, after seeing the poster and the title, the suggestion would be to shut the bowls down this year and release a biochemical gas into the air that makes everyone miserable. But this is actually a good idea. Pretty much the only way a lot of people are going to care about the bowls this year.

I would love for them to think they won the last matchup in the series for the foreseeable future and then, because of a global pandemic, we somehow end up playing them again and claiming those bragging rights right back.

That makes sense, so I wouldn't look for it to happen.

There is zero chance college football season will be completed. Not reasonable.

The last 7-10 days are alarming in terms of infection rates across the country. I think the NFL can somehow finish. Just don’t see it in college game. More and more programs can’t play for a conference championship. Players are fatigued with relative lockdown and want to join other students. So many factors that just don’t make completing a season realistic.

That's the thing about SMF. He gets it right every once in a while. It takes a 1000 times being wrong, but when he gets it right it's usually really good.

The nfl is so full of it with reporting hardly any positive players etc. Plzzzzzzz

I opened the thread expecting the same thing.

I actually agree with SMF here. Oh and for SMF, kill whitey.

Could be but that is academic to my argument. NFL has the resources available to make it happen. College football will be impacted much greater. Within 3 weeks, it’s quite likely that more teams will postpone games than number of teams able to play.

Why cause the amazing Dr Fauci told you this? It’s irresponsible off the cuff remarks like this with no merit that need deleted. Sure some games will be cancelled but Pitt has played 8 games and no significant outbreaks with 3 to go and I’ll bet the chances we play all games is greater than we don’t.

How is any bowl going to make any money without fans? Sponsors won’t pay unless fans attend. Covid will be at apex come bowl time. And who wants to see Pitt play in some crap bowl again. I’ll save my money to buy whores and bourbon.

Most bowl revenue comes from their TV contract and title sponsor. Attendance is certainly a big revenue stream but they make enough off of ESPN and whatever second-rate company wants to name the bowl. Also, I would imagine that the bowls still make each school buy 10K tickets or so that they'll eat.

You need to keep up. My guess is that you think the current Covid infection rate and that of Nov 1st are the same. I’ll fully expect you to return and acknowledge my comment when college football shuts it down in a week or 3. It’s called math. We are in the beginning climb of the exponential rate of growth. We were fortunate to only see linear growth until now.

ESPN. for the most part, does not make money FOR the bowls, the bowls make money for ESPN. ESPN actually OWNS a large percentage of the "minor" bowl games. Close to half of them. That's why the games will get played. They are nothing more than programming for ESPN. ESPN doesn't need to make money from ticket sales to make money from the games. Of course they'd make a lot more if they could sell tickets, but they don't need to.

Yes it's going to rise big time. All those hypocritical a-holes including their leaders who screamed from the mountain tops to social distance, had no problems getting close together without mask this past weekend.

In watching hours of coverage, I literally did not see 1 person without a mask. Not 1. Sure, there were probably some but there had to be close to 99% mask wearing. A MAGA rally, that was not.

They managed to in 1918 without the resources we share today. It has proven to be doable.

Hail to Pitt!

Dave

Yeah with likely half to less than half full (if that) capacity stadiums for the bowl games, the bowls have a great opportunity to look past fanbases and make for some interesting matchups. Of course, PSU may not make a bowl this year, but WVU would. WVU/Pitt would be fun.

I would love to watch Pitt vs anyone so I disagree

That being said... great idea
