Butler guard Ethan Morton scored 32 points in the win. McDowell Jeffress scored 23 points. Morton hit some big foul shots at the end. Several D1- coaches in attendance including Pitt Coach Capel.
That is true. My best friend caught Clement at the PA State American Legion All-Star Game. Tons of scouts to see who this new kid on the block was (Clement). He was an infielder for almost his entire HS career.I knew a guy who helped coach several sports at Mars. Clement was more of a basketball player there.
He was only occasionally a pitcher. He was throwing on the sideline before a tournament game, just to loosen up.
A scout asked him to toss a few off the bullpen mound to help him calibrate his radar gun. I think he hit 93 or 94 and the scout wanted to sign him on the spot. (Obviously, he had to go thru the draft process, but up until then, nobody, Clement included, thought of him as a future pro baseball player.)
Thanks for verifying that. . My guy had some great stories. Some were so good I was never sure they were true. That is true. Hopefully he realizes how good of a combo he could be with the guards we currently have. He looks awfully good, we need to get the top local talent when the wpial does produce it.
He’s certainly a special talent, but I’m not sure how he and XJ would mesh. Morton’s size/smarts as a PG, along with his playmaking ability, are his biggest weapons. Playing him off the ball diminishes that a bit. XJ is at his best when he’s able to use his speed to challenge a defense, penetrate, and draw contact/finish. I think you’re looking at two guys who need to be the lead dog in a backcourt to maximize their skills.
A lot can happen obviously, but his game is tailor made for the B10. It’s not a surprise that Michigan, Indiana, Ohio St, and Purdue are among his biggest suitors.

I am friends with Matt. He was playing a double header. I actually played against him. They didn’t want to waste a pitcher scott milanvich names spelled wrong. Played qb with raiders was messed up. Anyway they threw Matt at end of first game for heck of it not to waste anyone else. He was throwing hard so after scout asked him to throw some more and he was hitting 93/94 on gun and that was it. Nice kid. Married his high school girl still lives in butler. Funny. Had scouts to watch Paul failla as well that day. He never made it though.
Somehow we ended up with a couple pieces of extra MLB souvenir apparel Clement had donated. My wife brought it home for my son.I did get hit by scott m by a pitch I think that day he threw hard as well left the baseball markings on my rib. I should have charged the mound but he looked crazy back than as well.
