Just won his opening match of the state tournament by tech fall 16-1 and looked damn good.

Yeah. It wasnt a slight by that person at all. Just an honest opinion in comparison to Pitt's other recruits. I can certainly see it being used as added motivation for any competitive athlete though, however unlikely it may be that it is actually the case

Good showing by the future Pitt Panthers at a very strong 2018 Powerade Tournament
Sullivan took 3rd at 120. Cameron Enriquez from Stroudsburg beat him 7-5 in the semis. ( Kurtis Phipps, a junior from Norwin moved up to 120 this year and his second Powerade tournament by beating Enriquez 6-5 in the finals)
I have no inside information but it appears to me, Sullivan looks like he is cutting too much weight.. He looks strong and aggressive early in the matches but changes personality in the middle of the second period and is hanging on instead of trying to score points.
Camacho took 3rd at 126. He got upset in the quarter finals by Angelo Rini from St Edwards 8-4, who later won the tournament. Camacho’s quickness and athletic ability really stood out among all of the wrestlers in this tournament but he is going to have to learn to set up his offense more in order to take advantage of that ability. Wait till Gavin starts working a duck-under or his arm drag series with him. The kid is really going to be good.
At 170, Jared Mcgill beat Christian Clutter out of McGuffey, 4-2 SV in the finals to win his second Powerade Tournament. He looked strong throughout the tournament.

Miller was more disciplined in his technique. Not sure if he is the better athlete, but he IS a very good athlete. The thing is, with wrestling, a focused mental attitude and sound technique will make up for a significant deficit in athletic ability. Gavin based his whole career on this.
Then comes psychology. Does a persons personality and work ethic allow them to absorb the lesson that teachers and experience will bring to them.
I don't know Colton but he is a good athlete and already has some very nice techniques. He needs offensive set-ups, leg attacks, and some kind of offense that attacks the left side (duck-under? under-hook? outside single?) and that will really open up all the really good stuff he has now.
If he is open minded and keeps his ears open, I have faith in Gavin and Co (and his team mates and RTC partners) will bring him a long way over the next 4-5 years.

Even though McGill is ranked higher nationally, I understand the argument for Edmond Ruth on the PA team as he is a 2X state champion. Not sure why McGill wasn't selected for the WPIAL team.
