In the spring. I know we had some highly rated players sit. What are the chances we get another solid backfield next year?

Best I can tell, highly rated RB's from each of the last 3 classes:

* AJ Davis / Todd Sibley
* Sulahudeen (sp?)
* Carter kid from FLA

I think all of these guys got a 4-star hung on them by some rating service.

Not sure that any are the big power backs of the ilk of Ollison and Hall. (Maybe more like Hall... Ollison was more the big bruiser).

One has to wonder if La'Vique might be tried as a scat back.

Should be interesting. One thing that is axiomatic in football: even the best runners need a good O-line to open holes where their skills (speed, power, elusiveness) can be employed. That may be the more pertinent question to ask about next year: who'd going to be this year's Herndon, Dintino, Millen? Those guys meshed together pretty well as the season progressed (at least as run blockers) and the kids coming in behind them are as inexperienced as they were... and mostly younger (Van Lynn, Houey, etc)

Do not sleep on Todd Sibley. Pitt has a nice stable of young RBs and Todd is certainly one of them.

This is the #1 interest I have in the coming season. Because there's little doubt the ground game will be next to 100% of the offense again. Narduzzi ain't ever going back to a dynamic offense now that his defense is starting to settle in. Yeah the OL is very key but you need outstanding backs. Frankly Ollison and Hall were productive, I liked and appreciate their efforts, but they left yards on the field, usually went down a bit too easily, and they lacked the moves and the hyper gear the great ones have, to really have made hay. It's why neither really emerged above the other.

I think Sibley is the most complete of all the backs and seems like a hell of a locker room guy. I wouldn't be suprised to see him take the #1 job.

Salahuddin imo is the most electric of the backs. I think he's a game breaker that can go 80 yards in the bat of an eye.

AJ Davis....i've yet to be impressed with him. I think he'll get passed by the 2 I just mentioned.

New Davis and Carter, who knows.

Carter seems well suited to the role he had (wish we'd seen more of it). Very brief body of work to tell, but not sure he could be a useful guy in the classic tailback role. Great burst. But didn't see too much shiftiness, cutback, following blocks, head down when needed... but of course it is true he just wasn't lined up that way either.

Generational guys like Shady and maybe GA's Swift don't need the greatest of lines. Here's where it's necessary to have a screen game. V. Carter, Salahudden, frosh Davis...explosive. Need to get them in space. OC has to see this is the way to go with an inexperienced line.

My take - we have some speed but none of these guys are elusive in the sense of planting the foot and changing direction. A running back can get a 4-star rating by being fast in HS.

I’d like to see us change our recruiting approach and look more for quick/elusive guys like Ray and Dion...

The smaller recruit from Florida (Davis?) might have a chance to develop this way.

Sibley’s got some big legs, should be a decent power guy.

Go Pitt.

Bingo.

If the new OC does nothing else with this offense, getting the ball to RBs in space will do wonders
