Yes, you can. The rules were changed a few years ago.

The only way I could see it happening is if a conference champion had a losing record.Which would be near to impossible.They are obligated to take conference champions that lose in the conference tournament.But either way any team that has a losing record doesn't deserve postseason be it NIT,CBI or CIT.
