"mbe 34, post: 942673, member: 1738"]Hi Cap - I consider the Ped Scandal pretty much over.
Quite agree, and spot on, but that is just you and me knowing and agreeing. However, there are many at Penn State that do not, and will not let it go? This includes Paterno Family, PS4RS, some Trustees, Alumni, Former Penn State Players, and some BWI Posters.
Once the victims were all paid off there was no one advocating anything.
I have to respectfully disagree, the current Penn State Administration is mired under a Water Fall of continued discontent as well as Lawsuits of their own against Insurance Companies, Trustees, Alumni and ancillary problems from a divided contributors, higher ups, and fan base.
The bottom line lesson is "Football First and Only - especially when it makes a lot of money" - the beat goes on at Ped State.
Agree again, but to Penn State University credit, the NCAA Monitor made sure the University have changed that "Culture" on at least making sure "No Coach" in any Penn State Sport will have that kind of control over the University again. In an ironic way, Paterno created that "Culture" but his own participation of the Shaming of Penn State Name Legacy also made sure no other coach will benefit from such Lack of Institutional Control.
The 3 stooges will walk - no one has the stomach to prosecute them. The Pa AGO is in shambles as is the Pa court system - awash in scandals.
I don't know about walking but the Penn State Football Scandal did expose many problems with the Institutions that also required Reforms and that is still part of the problems why I disagreed with you above and will augment later in the week. As stated many times, many want all this to go away, but that going to take more time.
One has to wonder what happened on to the Cleary Report - I've seen more than one article about campus sex assaults being unreported at a variety of campuses - yet the Clery Law is largely ignored.
Pitt-Girl that knows about Clery is asking the same questions, but no Reporter is to date? It is my opinion, to be fair, Pennsylvania Lawmakers are more interested in making sure the Fines that are parts of the Clery Act do not impact too strongly that will hurt Funding needed to support PSU Students Financial needs. I think they should be worried and concern about that aspect. This would hurt not just the University but families and students too. Just my opinion, others can differ! One thing I always mentioned, there are many Loopholes in the Clery Act, and that is fair game for Penn State to respond to a 1200 Page Education Department Investigation Report along with a Department of Justice Title IX ongoing Invetsigations?
Question for you - when this whole thing started several on this board predicted costs of 100s of millions - Have you seen any comprehensive accounting of the costs?
No, and there can't be right now and there is a good reason. There are still big Legal Disputes and Lawsuits among Penn State University with its Insurance Companies, Trustees, Paternos, Alumni, Clery Act/Title IX Fines and ongoing Investigations, and Penn State may open further legal Lawsuits towards The Second Mile Insurance Carriers!
Additionally, it also dependent on how one will add those Ancillary Costs like the difference between Paterno's & Staffers salaries versus O'Brien & Franklin's Staff and salaries? Lost of Attendance, Contributions, and Salaries of New President and A.D. & Staffers? Lost of Big Ten Bowl Money, NCAA Sanctions, and additional costs on New Director of Ethics & Compliance & Staffers, AIA Officers & Staffers, Costs for Employees Training, Computer Background Check On Contributors, Lawyers, NCAA Monitors, etc etc......$$$$$, as well as Fines and for a while Free Admission Applications.
Has to be close to $500 million.
It is will be bigger, but what is unknown is how and who will help pay for it as Legal Disputes are resolved, settled, and ordered? It is already been 4 years and going to take more years, and the changes mentioned above alone is permanent.
Just where does Ped State keep coming up with the money?
I know some Pitt Fans get upset with me at times, but the truth is the truth. The Penn State Football Program is a powerful money making Program and the University is also a powerful 80,000 entity of over 2 Million Alumni and that is to be admired, respected, and recognized as important to all of Pennsylvania and America as well. This has set the Football Program back but it is on the come back too, and that is what I will augment later in the week.
I would like to add one more thing, I never used the Word..."Bombshell" at anytime, that was NCLee Poster's words not mind, and I respect NCLee Posts very much. The Info I am waiting for an additional update can be analyzed on many aspects already discussed months ago in public, and recent development will impact further on it, and will be of interests to many fine Penn State, Pitt and CFB Fans.
