Cathedral - 81st Anniversary

Awesome building. What a special idea are those nationality rooms.

It is worth looking at pictures of Oakland before the Cathedral. Amazing how things have changed in so few years.

The Cathedral of Learning was commissioned in 1921 (97 years ago) and ground was broken in 1926 (92 years ago). The first class was held in the building in 1931 (87 years ago) and its exterior finished in October 1934 (84 years ago), prior to its formal dedication in June 1937 (81 years ago).

I’ll go with it’s actual birthdate as bring when it became a functional facility on campus: 87 years old.

Heck, in some ways the Cathedral is still not finished.

Which is your favorite nationality room? Is a good question for everyone.

For me, the German room is the best. The windows, the chairs, so much to look at. Was a great catalyst for daydreaming.
