On game day, we hope to represent the finest qualities of Pitt, Penn State and all of Pennsylvania.

A vibrant energy surrounds this matchup, and fans have shown a tremendous anticipation for its resurrection. We are excited to share this moment with you. We are proud to say we have two of the most passionate and dedicated fan bases in this country, and we hope this game produces positive memories for the thousands of students, alumni and friends who attend.

Over the years, both institutions have partnered on many important efforts on behalf of the Commonwealth and its people. During this current four-year football series, we’re glad to again work together.

As host of this game, the University of Pittsburgh is both honored and committed to promoting an environment at Heinz Field that will showcase the very best of college football and our students. As the guest, Penn State plans to provide a spirited contest, setting the stage for a great four-year run.

The ESPN broadcast is an opportunity to provide an outstanding reflection of the passion Pennsylvania has for college football and, specifically, the Pitt-Penn State series. Good sportsmanship is key to any successful athletic contest and knowing that our fans are some of the best in the world, we expect no less.

Combined, Pitt and Penn State boast nearly 200 first-team All-Americans, 47 College Football Hall of Famers and 14 Pro Football Hall of Famers—and more honorees are surely on the way.

Let’s showcase the best versions of ourselves to help support our respective teams. We look to everyone to make wise choices and enjoy the game responsibly.

Join us, in person or via broadcast Saturday, as we kick off the next chapter in our programs’ shared history. Be loud, be respectful, and be a good sport.

And may the best team win!

Class would have been taking a stand and not extending the series with an institution that has abandoned any claim to "finest qualities."

It is sad they are just realizing now that they are in no way in control of this. Yet Penn State seems intent to keep dumping gasoline on the fire displaying, in full view, their "best" version. What they get will be reward for what they've sown.

Respect your views but it was scheduled by Chancellor Nordenberg & Pederson Tenures!

And did I ever suggest otherwise?
No, always enjoy the Post by you and always informative, I accept and respect your views too. Nordenberg built the Pitt Football Program Foundation to grow in the ACC, I consider that one of most significant accomplishments in University Athletic History.

Seriously?
I value the History between Pitt and Penn State and welcome both rebuilding the Programs even in different conferences, and that goes for WVU too!

I agree to disagree with fellow Lair, PSU-WVU & Other Posters that feel otherwise while respecting their views, values, and as they add to significant information sharing and discussing such views to learn on the Lair.

This goes for you, and one can judge other Universities on what they do now and in the future not just what happen in the past.

I choose to agree with Chancellor Gallagher and Presidents Barron and Gee on Pitt playing each other every year. I grew up with both and see nothing wrong in continuing both on OOC!

This is just my opinion, and not gospel!

PSU fans probably pissed he didn't mention Paturdo.
The Court of Public Opinion has pronounced its Verdict Now and Forevermore, nothing can bring back his Name, Reputation, and Legacy even in Civil or Criminal Court on current outcomes still be decided.

Clearly, the Mountain of Media Articles trashing Penn State University for Honoring Joe is one of the early Topics of this New Season and will just grow this and next week.

I also admire Joe without an apologies on his coaching but he clearly made major misjudgments and practiced Athletic Integrity hypocrisy in running his Program and the Penn State 2012 Reforms prove it as required by NCAA & Big Ten Sanctions showing the Paterno Era Errors that needed corrected. Joe put himself above Penn State University and the world knows it and no one can change that history?

Paterno Family and Foundation are free to Honor Joe in anyway they choose at anytime and with a Museum but Off Campus, in my opinion. In this way, Joe can be recognized for his Coaching but he cannot be Honored when he Shamed Penn State University Name regarding the Sanctions, Silence, and Secrecy that is known now, and nothing can change it!

Thank you, but I am leaving for Washington DC in hour and I will read it upon return. I have a good Research Scientists Friend at MIT too.

However, you have to explain which Penn State Policy and Reforms will you remove that were pout in 2012 and corrected many Crimes, Errors, and Lack of Institutional Control and that is not lying and no PSU Coach or Employee will have that kind Power again.

Are you saying Joe never brought shame to Penn State Name as in the Alma Mater Lyrics? Or are you strong and smart enough to know he did just that and the Court of Public Opinion, Sanctions, and 2012 Reforms prove it!

I choose to separate Joe'S Great coaching but how ran his Program was not Honorable and should not be Honored and Penn State will regret they are doing it!

At the same time, now that Penn State University corrected Paterno's Era Errors with Penn State 2012 Reforms, you should be proud of Penn State University and it is is a Model of Compliance and a Center of children protection now.

America practiced Slavery and are correcting the after effects of that horrible history and we can love our nation as we all continue to overcome that history, by accepting and embracing today's reforms and advances and discussing with arguments on future ways to address remnants and still victims of that past.

Penn State Fans need to do the same!

No, I'm not saying anything you've stated above...but you already know that don't you?

Now, why don't you give your prediction in the other thread that I started about the score of the game?

I have given my predictions twice now and may change it by Friday you can see them here: I have called this game a TOSS UP all year long too in every post discussing the possible outcome. You are welcome to respond and disagree too.
