Is this for real? First of all, why is Mike White reporting on a Twitter spat? Then why did Fittipaldo misspell Wade's name, and then take a cheap shot at Ford? Journalism today is garbage.
It's astonishing that a supposed journalist could take a cheap shot like that at a high school kid.
Is he drunk before noon on a Tuesday? Using his Twitter to bash a kid when his job is to cover the Steelers is incredibly tasteless. Ray and the Post Gazette owe Paris an apology. This reflects poorly on Ray and the PG.
I never want anyone to question why we think that most Pittsburgh media people are despicable.

That said, I'm not as jumpy on the media as some, but this tweet was pretty damn stupid and uncalled for.
I'm not one who typically whines about the Pgh media's treatment of Pitt, but this is low rent by Fittipaldo. Would be a questionable comment to make about a College kid let alone one entering his Senior year of High School. Embarrassing and if the PG has any class, they will force him to apologize to Ford (and probably to Cal U as well since they are the butt of the joke too).

Pitt should pull the PG's media credentials. Force the PG to drop Pitt all together.
Oh, this is nothing. Pitt has a great pipeline with Clairton. Just have Aaron Mathews or T. Webb talk to Wade to calm him down. Definitely not newsworthy in the least. But, Ford was definitely looking to get a rise out of him.
The Ford/Wade spat is nothing but Fittipaldo's comments are not nothing. And I don't care that he's a Pitt commit. Ford could be going to PSU and Fittipaldo would still be a POS for this in my view.
Oh, now that I looked closely, I thought that Wade said that about Ford. Didn't realize Fittipaldo said it. Yikes. Yeah... That's an ugly comment. Wonder if Ford saw it yet?

You know it is bad when other members of the media are calling out Ray for such a tasteless tweet. Except for Adamski ,of course, who liked it.
The fact that so many grown men follow high school kids social media is so disturbing on many levels. Mike blue and white made it sound like a horrible spat. Kids always beef on twitter before and after games. At every school and almost every sport depending on the opponent.

No, he did not go to PSU. And quite frankly, I'm surprised that Ray tweeted that. It's really out of character for him as he is usually one of the less controversial writers in the area. I'm disappointed.
Nah, he just needs to write an article or two saying nice things about Pitt and all will be forgiven.
In all seriousness, this isn't even a "pro town" type of issue. It's just general incompetence in all aspects of their jobs by every single member in the media.
There's a reason there isn't any turnover in Pittsburgh media when it comes to being poached by bigger entities, and it's not because of some of extreme loyalty to a bunch of dying Companies.

Why should he be suspended? We need to stop acting like Penn State fans. This is what they do. And we need to stop in this country wanting to fire a person for saying something we don't like or agree with.

1. Why is a Steelers beat reporter even bothering with what Pitt does (even though he used to cover Pitt) or what a HS kid planning to go to Pitt says or does? Can't imagine Kaboly doing that. Not in the public domain anyway. Just dumb. His walk back "apology" was that he was making some sort of comment about HS kids transferring. No clue what that has to do with the original tweet.

The truth about the "Twitter war" is that it was just two kids who played in a scrimmage game against one another Friday and I think Wade was a little butt hurt that Ford did come at him pretty hard.
3. Local superstar that has Pitt and PSU both salivating and the PG goes hard at the Pitt commit...really shouldn't be a shock to anyone here other than they were so open and blatant about it.

For one, you actually contact the person of interest before including a quote in an article, which was Mike White's mistake (again). Ray's shot at 17 year old HS players, basically saying Ford is going to fail at PITT, is a poor avenue for a journalist to follow. Ray shouldn't necessarily be suspended, but I would be very cautious in letting him anywhere near PITT for an extended period of time. He needs to focus his attention back to the pro sports teams he covers.
