Chelsea Leeds

Just turned into a bad fit for him. A few injury hiccups here and there, but you can’t tell me he hasn’t earned more playing time at his natural position than a few scrub minutes here and there. Chelsea’s problems aren’t reserves, it’s what’s on the pitch every game. Aside from a few playing well, others can and should be sitting some games.
There isn’t a real natural fit in Tuchel’s system. That’s the thing. Their attackers are asked to tuck in and allow the wing backs to provide the width in the flanks. So while Pulisic should be able to do the job sitting underneath the #9, the fact is it’s not playing to his best strengths, which for me is playing out wide in space and playing direct, running at backs with pace. He doesn’t do that at all.

so because of injuries, Tuchel had a real lineup predicament yesterday. He was begrudgingly forced into a 4-3-3. Or maybe it was a 4-2-3-1 (I don’t know what it technically was). But regardless of what it was, there was an opportunity to play Christian out wide where he is best. And tuchel didn’t even start him!!! I know I’m biased, but to me that’s malpractice!!! He started Ziyech instead who physically has one foot out the door and even flew to Ajax to try and get a deal done recently. And guess what happened? Ziyech lost his mark tracking back and guess what that mark did? Yep, scored the goal to tie the game.

MALPRACTICE

These decisions will cost him his job if they continue to struggle. I didn’t get to watch the game so I missed all the details of lineup and formation. I agree, CP is deadly driving at high pace attacking defenders. He’s great when he has a solid lane to just go. Not so much in tight spaces. The difference between him and say Hazard, both have great pace and great at attacking defenders, Hazard is really good in tight spaces and can just roam anywhere he wants. Things just aren’t working out for CP at Chelsea, and if he can, have an amazing World Cup performance and build his game back up and get talked about. The more Chelsea struggles the more fans and ownership question coaching decisions.

Well that’s the fear. With the ownership change, they are spending a load of cash on players that tuchel wants. Does this owner know enough about things to rightfully sack him? And will he want to given he’s investing in Tuchels vision? I understand non Chelsea fans don’t care but I do. Lol.

And to add to that, all these coaches have pretty much unanimously complained that with the calendar the way that it is this year, with so many games squashed into a much smaller time frame because of the World Cup, that their players are going to get run down playing all these games. So they have a mid-week game against an opponent that they should beat, and even then he still doesn't make a lot of changes to the lineup.

Sterling, Mount and Havertz have started every game in the attack, and Jorginho has started every game in the midfield and Loftus-Cheek has started all but one. It's like he's the soccer version of Derick Shelton putting David Bednar out there day after day, many times for multiple innings, apparently just to see how long it would take for his arm to fall off.

Eventually Bednar's arm did proverbially fall off, and at some point if Tuchel doesn't start rotating his players they will start getting hurt as well.

Chelsea stole 2 points today, pure highway robbery and typical how the Top 6 get preferential treatment.

I didn’t see it that way. And I think I’m a pretty objective person. Bowen dragged his foot and a foul is a foul. Can’t disregard it because a goal was scored.

My thought when I saw it was that if that action happens to a guy on the ground out in the middle of the pitch that no one even gives it a second thought, that it wouldn't be called a foul. But on the other hand, I don't think I've ever seen someone hit a goalie in any similar sort of manner and not have it called a foul. If the ball bounced out to a Chelsea player who cleared it up the field and the ref called the foul no one even gives it a second thought.

He hit a goalie after the goalie played the ball, and he didn't get any of the ball. That gets called a foul all the time.

Not even close to enough for a foul, my opinion. Notice what the Chelsea players did afterwards, nothing. He made full blown attempt to avoid, it's not like he went in reckless or careless and clattered him.

Not until they saw Jack Neymar Richarlison rolling around like he'd taken a bullet to the chest did they even take any interest.

Maybe I’m just in shock because I’m not used to ever getting a VAR decision. That Spurs match two weeks back and two cup finals be LiVARpool still sting and gave me scarred.

but I watched yesterday in a room full of people and didn’t think much through. The way I saw it was that Bowen left his leg out there similar to how players will leave their leg out so that there’s contact and they try to draw a foul. In this case, Bowen left his leg out there so that he’d contact Mendy himself. He was successful, and it cost him the goal.

Back to Leeds, looks like Adams wasn’t the problem.

Mendy sold it well, but Bowen was dumb for dragging his foot like that. But mendy made it look like he got run over by a tank.

Brentford is a really solid side. Overall their club is impressive from ownership, to talent evaluation and development up to the first team. They're a rival of Fulham but I can't say I have a deep seeded hatred that a West Londoner or life long Fulham fan would. I'm admittedly only a 12 year Fulham fan.

I think Brentford have far more potential to be a Europa League team than most established EPL teams right now.

Yeah I’m with you. I can’t hate Spurs even though I’m supposed to. I love Antonio Conte too much. And before that Jose Mourinho. And before that didn’t mind Ponch.

PGMOL came out and ruled that they errored in the Chelsea-West Ham game and the Newcastle-Palace game.

The problem is, as you alluded to before, is that’s not really what VAR should be for. They need to fix things. In Chelsea’s case, were the studs up? Yes. Was it a foul? Yes. But going back and reversing goals because of stuff like this is subjective in nature and is not in the spirit of what VAR is for. But the way games are officiated right now, I see why they did.

Wait, wut? Studs up? I saw nothing regarding studs up. I saw a weak weak weak foot barely make contact with Mendy's chest.

The pgmol said they errored, it's not a foul. They just don't come out and admit that too much.

Again, I'm just thankful that Mendy was able to recover from that catastrophic injury to celebrate with his teammates a few minutes later and also play tonight.

Add another name to the lame list, Jack Neymar Mendy-Richarlison.

He’s not a match official, he’s not a part of pgmol. He has an opinion that is in the minority.

mendy is just another player that of many many that dive or severely embellish with their theatrics.

he knew he was in trouble and treated the contact like he was shot or stabbed.

Why have I never heard of this pgmol before? Why weren’t they firm in their stance two weeks ago when officiating cost Chelsea vs Spurs when it was clear to the world that the officials made mistakes and awarded Spurs? I’d have to look at it again, but this isn’t the left foot dragging.

But the reaction from Mendy was the back foot when it came through it was dragging. The front foot may not have even caught him, sure it looks close in image, slow motion video would say for sure. The angle during the match was always a different angle facing into the goal and the VAR was from the same angle.

I don’t care. All I want is to sack Tuchel. Lol.

I really thought he was going to be the next solid EPL coach. He’s been good, but not good enough.
He’s been Dan Bylesma. Took over a struggling team and had a solid 6 months…winning a euro and world title. He’s been dreadful outside of that.
