I'm relieved to open it and not see that he decided to transfer.
Same reaction -- I was relieved that he hasn't been arrested!
Hope he is eligible next season - we need some depth at TE...

He played in a game at UCLA and didnt enroll at Pitt until January (assuming he's enrolled now) meaning he has to sit the spring and fall. He'll be eligible after Finals Week next fall meaning he can play in our bowl game.
Jennings had a family reason and Temple is less than an hour from his family. Pitt isnt close to where Clark's family is.
That is not entirely true! Pitt is a car ride from home. UCLA was a plane ride.
Is anyone on here worried about Clark,Winfree,Hendrix.They all had problems at their previous schools!Hey I'm all for giving second chances but with these three I'd be worried about?They might be model citizens and I hope they are but I'd be worried some.If WVU or PSU recruited these guys you'd be blowing Holgy and Franklin off the Mountain about the integrity of their recruits.

Any ideas what reasoning they could use with the compliance department to get him eligible next year? This could open up a can worms down the road.

But your point is irrelevant, since it's not close enough to his home for him to get a special exemption. He'd have to come up with some other reason for the exemption
There is no way they will be able to. The NCAA has eliminated being eligible immediately. The new rule requires the athlete to sit a year. If they don't have a redshirt left for the year they sit they may apply for a hardship 6 th year.
He will have to redshirt this year and have 3 years of eligibility remaining.
Well it is cool you love Pitt football so much, but, Clark hasnt played for 2 semesters, that is the year, and that is the loop hole. I am sure you know pitt football and Clark's situation way better than I though
Clark seems to move around all over the place, but other than that, specifically what problems? Just because a kid transfers doesn't mean they are a problem.
Can't believe I am agreeing with you but I am agreeing with you. Pitt fans are weird. They only want kids who grew up die hard Pitt fans, run a 3.9 40, bench 1000lbs, get a 5.4 GPA, is an Eagle Scout, and has never made a bad decision, ever, in his life.

You clearly have no knowledge of NCAA rules. I should have been more specific. He will be eligible at Pitt after he completes his year in residency (enrolled in classes) for two semesters where he will be ineligible to compete. If not as simple as he hasn't played for two semesters. He must be enrolled full time and complete two semesters at Pitt prior to being eligible. Unless he magically enrolled at Pitt last August he will not be eligible until after the completion fall semester.
Clark seems to have attitude problems. The UCLA coaches called him out for not wanting to work. The publicly said he was soft. I also think it a red flag that he transferred and change his mind so much. He went to three different high schools (not because of family moved). Then he decommits twice before settling on UCLA. One month into the season he announces he transferring. Commits to Syracuse then to Pitt. Bottom line Pitt will be his 5th school in 5 years.
I agree. People forget that these are kids facing big decisions. I'm all for him coming to Pitt and hopefully having a great career here.
Can Tight ends ever be stars? outside of Gronk of course, can any tight end actually be considered a star? I love Heath Miller but for as great as he is, he is still a check down, a damn good one but still. Especially at the college level.. I remember some damn good TEs for the Canes over the last decade or two but even then, I wouldn't consider any of them a star..
He admitted it was a maturity problem. He made a decision to go there without really thinking it out. When he got to UCLA, he wasn't comfortable and didn't want to be there. It happens to 18 year olds. He hasn't been in trouble, or has been an attitude problem otherwise. From reading his quotes, he seems to be settled in and wants to prove his detractors wrong. Yes, he has been an enigma, and yes, he certainly has changed his mind often, but he was a 5* out of HS, so scouts thought a lot of him. Every school, including PSU, takes recruits that are borderline with attitude or grades, etc. if they have great talent. This was a no-brainer, if he doesn't fit in the program, they won't tolerate it. If he does, it is a classic example of giving a guy a second chance. My guess is this kid will work to be a player, and will forever be indebted to Pitt, especially if he gets to the NFL, for their willingness to give him a chance.
TEs who have an ability to catch passes, while also serving as an excellent blocker, are extremely valuable in any offense. LBs are unable to rush the passer as often when a TE who possesses the ability to catch and stretch the field is in the lineup. While they may not be considered "stars", they are extremely valuable and productive, especially in Pro-Style offenses.
Star may be a little much, but a TE can certainly be a major difference maker. A great TE does so much for both the running game and passing game. Hard to commit 8 in the box and blitz a ton if the TE is a threat to catch a quick pass with only a safety to stop him.
I understand what your saying. I could buy it if it was a one time thing. This is his third transfer. Not being comfortable has nothing to do with being soft and not wanting to work for things. in addition after UCLA he was back to the same pattern of commit and then decommits. I just don't see having any confidence this will be different then the other three times.
Schools take reaches all the time. I just can't see how anyone can be confident in this kids with his past.
I'm not sure I follow the three transfers that you mention. He enrolled at UCLA, then decided to transfer. Are there others that I'm forgetting?
