ZERO POINTS FROM the big guys last nite am I reading that right....that’s putrid if true.

The three combined for 40 minutes, 0-2 from the floor, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, and ... 12 fouls. (Yuck!)

Ryan simply cannot get back here soon enough.

There’s seems to be a running assumption that next year will reap improvement with experience, the incoming players and Ellison. But, unless there are at least 2 not known today post players (jucos or transfers) that come in play at at least average ACC level right away- next season without Luther will be a step back in terms of wins and losses- not a step forward.

I was excited by Brown a few games ago with his 12-7 against Towson, but he has been horrible in these first ACC 2 games. I know some of it is scheme, but at 6-9" his overall rebounding has been pretty atrocious. I would really like to see some consistency from him. He provides the most hope among the big men.

Again, ACC Bigs is a whole different world for these guys. Luther also would have struggled, but he wouldn't have been blanked from the floor, and would have had at
least a presence inside and gotten some rebounds for us.
I really want to see improvement with our Bigs, but we have to be realistic, our new Bigs
are I'm sure trying hard, but they're low mid level players at best.

You think Pitt will win less than 10-12 total games next year without the addition of an unknown big or two? We definitely need them, but I'd expect more of the same in the W/L column, at worst. I truly believe this team will look better after another 15 games together and an offseason in the gym.

That might true if Luther was actually playing. Realistically, all of the freshmen should benefit from playing so much this year and improve. The 4 new additions should help as well. In a normal rotation, Luther is a role player not the guy you run an offense through.

It is true and it may not be putrid but it borders on putrid. The problem here is that they are all developmental players who are 2 and 3 years away. Pitt can't afford to have more than 1 or 2 guys like that on it's roster but Pitt has way more than that.

The dilemma right now is Stallings is going to have to jettison a few players and bring in more players that are somewhat conference ready. I think 2 of the 3 guys mentioned in this post will be the first to go.

There is NO way Kene, Peace, and Brown are all back next year. That just defies every optimistic fiber in my body.

I think you're exactly right. These guys are all longer term project types. Unfortunately i think that since we missed on many of our other big targets there weren't alot of options left.

I hear others mention that one or more should move on next year but KS had to know they were projects when he signed them?

Yeah, the project type guys need a couple years and then you HOPE they develop. We need a JUCO big badly for next year. Or possibly by some miracle, a 5 star center who wants to stay 2 years.

Brown will be a solid player. He's offensively gifted, just needs to get stronger and more confident. That comes with time. Very similar to what we saw with Manigault.

At the very least, once Peace learns the basics of being a big man, he can be a Gary McGhee lite. The athleticism is there. Now needs to come all the fundamentals, and that takes time. He really shouldn't be seeing the floor at all, and probably shouldn't see it next year either. Good programs stash kids like this. We, unfortunately, are forced to play him.

Chukwuka should go. Minimal athleticism, minimal upside. I don't really see him getting much better. Maybe better coordination, that's it. We could do much better.

I don't think Brown is that bad. In reality he should be at the end of the bench playing garbage time if he was on an ACC team. He's ok for an ACC freshman, it's not his fault he's playing for a D2 team.

He's way better than Manigault.

Oh, of course. I'm just saying he's very similar in terms of his development. Both players need time in the weight room, both players struggle with confidence. Classic freshman big man issues.

I would give Samson a chance just to see what he could do. In the little he has played, he has not been moved like a feather, he has secured the rebounds that hit his hands and he has converted his scoring chances.

I know he is probably 6-5 and has only played garbage time, but really, what do we have to lose?

What difference does it make. Like vs. Louisville, they are down 20 with 10:00 left and acting like they will come back, throw in a Samson, doesn't make sense not to.

My views as well.

On a side note, not only have Peace, Chuk and Brown been less than stellar on the court, but what a bad trio of names to combine. Sounds like most of my Friday nights into Saturday mornings my first few years of college in Oakland after late night O-sessions.

I also would like to see what Samson can do, but herein lies the rub.....you and I aren't
at practice and have no idea what Stallings is seeing there. Like most coaches,
Stallings is undoubtedly rewarding playing time based on what the players are doing or
not doing in practice.
Anyone who ever played this game and rode the bench knows that you gotta put out
and start producing in practice if you want to see the floor in games.
Now I'm not saying for sure this is what's going on in this case, but clearly it must be
something. If he's not in Stallings doghouse, it obviously has to do with what Stallings
is seeing and what he thinks of him as a player.

With the rotation we had established, there was no place to play Samson.

Kene was playing. Boykins and Peace were not playing much. Then Luther got hurt.

With Luther out, I want to see Brown play a lot and have Peace back him up.

I would like to see Samson get a shot at Kene and Boykins minutes.

With Milligan's play dropping off, I would like to see this rotation:

Carr 32, Milligan 8
Stewart 28, Davis 12
Frame 26, Davis 14 (Frame could use the rest - I do expect his performance to pick up)
Stevenson 30, Samson 10 (will we be small when Shamiel out - Samson needs Brown in)
Brown 30, Peace 10

Once again I know we know better than the coaching staff who gets to see these players every day in practice . If George could play or had a lot of upside KS would be a fool not to play him .
Chuey ( my nickname for him ) must be a good practice player because in my learned opinion he’s shown very little except to be able to miss 3’s at will .
Solid bigs are hard to find for a school like Pitt and unless they can replace one of them with a definitive upgrade they all stay . If I was the coach I’d” give Peace a chance “ . He’s a potential Gary McGhee in upside .
