Clemson Game

Hey Jokes. Can you recommend that one "must go" food place at Clemson? Every college town has one. Looking forward to the game.
Esso. If you can only go one place on Gameday, its Esso.

If looking for a place Friday night, try and get reservations now for one of three places- Pixie and Bills, Blue Heron, or Calhoun Corners. All of them are delicious and on the more expensive side, but a great sitdown dinner place. I would also recommend Esso for Friday nights, because that place is legendary.

any good food places around that hilton in greenville that was mentioned earlier?

how many hours before game time do they open the gates at clemson?

Any clue when the tickets will go on sale through Pitt?

Away game tickets are on sale now through Pitt. I believe tickets and seating through Pitt are based upon priority ranking through the Panther Club--and suspect the policy is posted somewhere on the web site. The Pitt Ticket Office typically does not distribute the tickets for away games until about two weeks before the game. Hope there will be a loud and large Pitt contingent in the house! Hail to Pitt!

Pitt has never sold tickets to away games through a link on the web site like they do with home games. I'm not sure how that would even work, since it isn't Pitt's stadium to be selling tickets for. Call them tomorrow.

Surprised you don't know something;) Pitt has sold away game tickets for as long as I have been a Panther fan, which dates to 1980. Every visiting team gets an allotment of tickets to sell. The size of the ticket allotment is determined by the contract the teams sign to play. I presume the ACC has a predetermined number for every visiting team. Once Pitt sells however many they can, they can also turn back unsold tickets to the home team on a date certain without incurring a cost, etc. There is a form distributed these days with season ticket applications for you to place your order. Presuming you missed that [or are not a season ticket holder], just call the Pitt Ticket Office, and if tickets are available, they will gladly sell them to you. Tickets for the Clemson game are $60. Hope to see and hear many Panther fans at the game. Hail to Pitt!

Thanks! I'm flying into Atlanta on Friday and spending most of the day there. We're planning on staying somewhere South of Clemson then heading to the game on Saturday.

Gates will be open at sunrise practically. noon games people get there at 7 am. night games people get there at 7 am.

The Hilton off of Heywood Rd in Greenville is still very close to downtown. I would head into the downtown area and grab food, with Trappe Door as a personal favorite: http://trappedoor.com/. Another place I really enjoy that isnt as busy is Trio. http://www.triocafe.com/. Downtown Greenville has a ton of different food places, so it really depends on budget.

If looking to stay closer to the Hotel, I would recommend Portofino's Italian. There is a wing and bar place called local cue where the food is good but service is slow. If not in a time crunch, Local Cue is a blast.

A new place called Tipsy Taco has opened up and has great reviews, but I havent been able to go yet. That is also very close to the hotel.

I would look in the Anderson are for hotels. Anderson is very close to the Clemson exit. Look at booking hotels now.

A little light on the reading comprehension today, I see.

I didn't say Pitt doesn't sell away game tickets. If I thought that why on earth would I have told him to call them? He asked for a link to where on the web site they sell away game tickets, and I told him that no such link exists because Pitt (and as far as I know every other school is the same) doesn't sell away game tickets that way.

If you want to buy Pitt - Villanova tickets you can click on a link on Pitt's web page and do that. If you want to buy Pitt away game tickets there is no link on the web site to do that.

Joe no need to get your panties in a bunch. My comprehension is just fine...you just said you "did not know" something, which was a Board posting first for you. The likely reason they do not make away game tickets available through the web site is there are very limited numbers available and they primarily market them to season ticket holders as a perk. Not very complicated, you think? They obviously could make them available via the web site and fill the orders based on whatever criteria they wanted to establish, keeping in mind they typically only have 2-3,000 in inventory to sell. Likely not worth the effort on Pitt's part...but who knows, perhaps it will be there one day. Hail to Pitt!

thanks. 7am either way. got it.

Thanks for the tip. Finally I usually like to putz around campus/town on game day. Is there anything I should make a point to stop by and see before the game (besides Howard's Rock obviously)?

Esso and just walk campus. Bowman Field and Tillman hall are pretty cool, but I dont think anything is really a must see besides the campus anyways.

Downtown is only two exits from this hotel and there are TONS of restaurants and bars of all types. All of Main Street is walkable. You can walk from place to place, pick up some appetizers and a few drinks in each and never make it to the end.

Around your hotel are plenty of places, but mostly chains like Moe's, Chili's, etc. If you don't head downtown, the best on Haywood is City Range.

We go to several Clemson games each year. We stay in Anderson, SC not as far and you can avoid two night minimums, but the traffic on US 76 is horrendous. I cannot stress it enough, plan to be in Clemson at LEAST 3 hours before game time. Also, the upper decks on stubhub are usually not too much $$$ but it are high, tight and benches. It is tough to get lower bowl tickets away from those season ticket holders that always show up I agree Greenville would be good for anyone dropping in from the north. Wild Wing Cafe and Barley's taproom and pizza are my favorites. In Clemson, everything will be mobbed, ESSO Club and Loose Change are your college beer and burger standards. Neither place is very large, I will be there in my new PITT Script ensemble (love it) my family will be Solid Orange and Obnoxious
