St. Joseph's Prep (philly) won (6A) PA state championship
last night 62-13. This is obviously the best team in PA (#3 in USA).
Pine Richland beat em a few years ago, but this is the fourth in
five years for the Prep.
Bottom line they recruit like no one I've ever seen. Players come
from Philly, the suburbs, New Jersey, and Delaware. The QB is
going to Ohio State, the top receiver also Ohio St., the other
receiver Temple, and a LB'r going to Clemson. Others on this
team are going to "lesser" programs. This is as unfair
a situation as has ever been in H.S. IMO.

You ever see Saint Frances play out of Baltimore? They mercy ruled IMG last year and img beat SJP. Crazy to think they're are even higher levels than SJP.

Yah. It is a pretty unfair situation that they enjoy. It took Pine Richland and Jurkovec to beat them. I doubt western PA and anyone in District 7 will be able to compete with that team in the coming years based on what they are allowed to get away with.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. St Joes, may not be #1 in USA, but
#3 ain't bad. They are light years better than PA public schools.
People have posted how unfair the recruiting advantage a
St. Joe's has. Last night's results further support that
unfairness.
I like your posts and I know you're a football guy. I'm not,
for me it's basketball. However I do follow football.

At least they’re in 6A. It’s troublesome when catholic schools compete in low classifications, in all sports, and grab players from all over, and compete against small community based schools.

Unfair my ass! Coach better and recruit better, this new generation has a really sad view of life, excuses, no taking responsibility etc

your naive if you don't think recruiting goes on in high school in PA

Well of course it does. But it is against the rules. And if you are going to tell a high school that they have to do something better to compete being better at cheating isn't really it.

This is kind of of topic, but half the year I live in Cedar Park Texas. The HS team is a perennial 5A powerhouse. The last 6 games they’ve averaged 64.5 points per game, and these are district games, in a suburb of Austin, TX which has pretty good football. They are fun to watch, their offense is Sooooooooo much more sophisticated than Pitt’s. They have 1 maybe 2 marginal division 1 prospects. The coach is the athletic director, the OC is a 28 year old PE teacher.
Did I mention how much more sophisticated their offense is than Pitt’s.

It's been going on for years. Looking only at PA's highest classification, Erie Cathedral Prep finished the year as the #2 high school team in the nation according to ESPN years ago. Many FBS players on that team, and I'm sure it was because they had kids from all over. Pgh Central Catholic has had good teams at the highest classification throughout the 21st century, although maybe not top tier national rankings.

Is it? How are they getting the kids to travel? Who is paying their tuition? If it is alumni that are crazy enough to pay for kids to go to their school, who is anyone to judge? Like fk said, they aren’t playing against tiny schools with no resources.
