Here are Pitt's and Virginia's schedule left. While ours is tougher, I believe if we win out we win the Costal again. Basing my guess on how well our D is playing, we are now able to score points, getting our 2 top RBs back and Hall going down for the season.

Ok las panteras, or Pitt loses one more game, UVA loses two more -- may not need to win out. There are a lot of scenarios, it's early in the race.

Per ESPN FPI, we have a slightly higher chance of winning the conference (0.7%) versus winning out (0.4%). I think there are too many uncertainties with Miami having talent, UNC with inconsistent performances, etc. I think 8-4 is the floor with an outside shot at 9-3 or 10-2.

Agree other than your floor. Could end up 7-5, which would still be above many pre-season predictions. I mean Pickett could go down next week, we're not quite ready to replace him against an opponent better than Delaware. That's not an obscure scenario, it's an injury to one player who takes a lot of hits.

Well then let's just pack it in and go home.

UVA will probably beat Duke at home. At Louisville and at UNC will be their best chance at a loss.

It's pretty early to be doing this. We've played four decent teams, and we're 2-2 against them with the wins coming by 4 points combined and each requiring a touchdown on the final drive.

If we can duplicate our 4-2 record from the first half of the season and then win a bowl game to get to 9-4, I say job well done. Anything above that, even better. Can we win out? Absolutely. Can we go 3-3 or worse? Absolutely.

That said, with this schedule (for the rest or this season and all of next), it's there for the taking. If not now, then when?

Are Pitt’s chances of winning the Coastal better via a 3-way tie than head-to-head vs UVA? Say, Duke beats UVA and all three end up 7-1 or 6-2?

In that scenario, then it would revert to the records vs the best common (conference) opponent.

For example, their records against UNC or Miami if they were the next best team (doesn’t have to be a coastal team)

This is a fun division. This is what college football should be. Every team goes into every season with a realistic shot at winning it (for the most part). VA will still most likely win it but nearly everyone has a shot at midseason. That is the way it's been a few times recently. This would be one of the few times the pre-season favorite ended up in Charlotte and it would also mark the first time that every team in the division won it in succession at any level in any sport in NCAA history. VA was dog crap just 3-4 years ago when their current seniors were breaking in. North Carolina was awful last year and could be back in Charlotte in the next couple of years.

Nobody in our division will ever win a national championship or probably even make the playoff but this is a great division to follow.

Well done, and very fitting. Bravo.

I can see a coastal team making the playoff one year. It would require a win over Clemson or FSU, but the talent is there for Miami, Mack can bring quality to UNC, and I wouldn’t write off Narduzzi with making a run if he has the right qb to compliment his defense.

Miami was #2 in the country late in the year when we beat them at Heinz. It can happen.

They were overrated and Pitt exposed them but it's a dynamic situation and changes will happen. When Pitt joined the ACC the Top Dog was FSU and the up-and-comer was Clemson. Now, FSU is ordinary and Clemson has won two championships. Miami, Pitt and VT have been very high level programs and one of them (or another in the division) might make substantial gains and become a Top Ten program for a period of time. It's hard to see right now, but it can happen.
