While this board melts down over Pitt's loss, one can't help but notice the unpredictability of the college game. Today, VaTech beat Mia by 15, Duq (losers of 8 in row) won at St Joe's by 8. GW, on the bubble having to win, loses to Davidson, No Iowa beats Wich St, and lowly Rutgers beats Minny by 23. That is this afternoon alone. Surprised? Don't be. It happens everyday. Listen, we have a right to be disappointed with Pitt's end of season, but VaTech and GT are better than Pitt right now, and are showing it. VT and GT have both won 5 of 6, and beat some good teams. We have no right to feel like we are 'supposed' to beat them on their court. There is much parity in cbb and that will continue minus the blue bloods who recruit NBA caliber players. This isn't the Pitt teams of the last decade in the Big East. They don't have the talent, swagger, or toughness to be consistently good enough to beat good teams. It will take better recruiting, and some big wins to turn this around in a conference as good as the ACC. I hope Jamie is up to it, or us fans are in for some mediocre years. I won't ever lose hope, but my realistic self sees the inconsistency of play over a period of time, which prevents Pitt to get over the hump in this league. I will enjoy every game and hold out hope of winning, but will stop 'expecting' them to catch a lightning bolt. Let's dream that Pitt can get back to being what they were a short time ago in the BE.

I just hope the admin or us fans won't "settle" for a yearly ~.500 record in the ACC and 20 wins every year (padded by cupcakes). Seems concentration is leaning to becoming a "football school" again. No reason why we can't concentrate on being top notch in BOTH money sports!

Miami, UVA, VT, and Clemson are on the upswing. Nobody would confuse them as bball powerhouses. Miami and VT were bottom feeders in the BE for years, and now they are winning in the ACC because they have good coaching staffs. This attitude that we cannot win in the ACC is BS. We went heads up against arguably the best team over a 20 year period in UConn. Huggy Bear has a Top 10 team that might be better next year and they are playing in the middle of nowhere with no recruiting base.

They also went below .500 for two years in a row. Dixon , his So called bad years, aren't bad. Next year is pivotal.

The coaches that lost should be fired.

WV is a Top 10 team this year who has a chance to win it all, and will probably be better next year. I do not like them, but that is the truth.

After those 2 years of missing the Dance, he made the Sweet 16 and has a Top 10 team this year. That is his worst stretch in a career that includes Final 4 appearances.

And we may currently hit a two year stretch of not hitting the dance...so give it next year.

Would love Pitt to play to WVU in basketball and football so we can give Pitt a backyard beatdown!!
