While this board melts down over Pitt's loss, one can't help but notice the unpredictability of the college game. Today, VaTech beat Mia by 15, Duq (losers of 8 in row) won at St Joe's by 8. GW, on the bubble having to win, loses to Davidson, No Iowa beats Wich St, and lowly Rutgers beats Minny by 23. That is this afternoon alone. Surprised? Don't be. It happens everyday. Listen, we have a right to be disappointed with Pitt's end of season, but VaTech and GT are better than Pitt right now, and are showing it. VT and GT have both won 5 of 6, and beat some good teams. We have no right to feel like we are 'supposed' to beat them on their court. There is much parity in cbb and that will continue minus the blue bloods who recruit NBA caliber players. This isn't the Pitt teams of the last decade in the Big East. They don't have the talent, swagger, or toughness to be consistently good enough to beat good teams. It will take better recruiting, and some big wins to turn this around in a conference as good as the ACC. I hope Jamie is up to it, or us fans are in for some mediocre years. I won't ever lose hope, but my realistic self sees the inconsistency of play over a period of time, which prevents Pitt to get over the hump in this league. I will enjoy every game and hold out hope of winning, but will stop 'expecting' them to catch a lightning bolt. Let's dream that Pitt can get back to being what they were a short time ago in the BE.
