College Football Decision Time - Wednesday?

Forget about the 10 +1 schedule. Just move forward with the 8 +1 and pray you can get those in. I know it's game inventory and TV money, but that's a huge stretch.

I'd be happy with:
ND
BC
Syracuse
'Ville
UVA
V Tech
UNC
Duke

The +1 can be the hoopies, Temple, Cinci, or keep the Marshall game

I hope we can get the 10+1 in since at 8 games there is more of a chance for parity and similar records. Want to let the play on the field decide for us.

Reduce travel by staring tourney by playing nearest teams....
Then winners play nearest winners..
I think we would have Pitt - Penn State week one.. unless Morgantown is closer..

These wild imagined scenarios won't happen. TV makes the decisions and nobody is sharing their cut.

I think it will be all ahead full until something happens that prevents game play. There really isn't a reason to behave differently until they have to and I don't know what that will be other than a mass public outbreak or someone struggles to continue to field a team. They could bubble these kids on the South Side but I don't know what happens when games start.

You're lying if you aren't hopeful. I don't like the odds but I hope for the sake of the players I hope that they get to play and prove themselves. There are some talented kids on this defense and I would love to see them get to show it.

I think the 'bubble' sports (NHL, NBA, GOLF) have a shot but MLB & the Miami Marlins couldn't make it through the 1st weekend. Not sure how NFL & NCAA make it work.

Hope I'm wrong.

This!

MLS is also in a bubble and is doing relatively well despite kicking 2 teams out early because half those teams tested positive.

Like, how in the world can Miami have a season? Its the COVID epicenter right now. How can they live and train in Miami? How do they expect visiting teams to go there? There's basically 0 chance, you can bring a traveling party of 200+ to Miami and not have guys get COVID.

I do believe the attempt will be made about trying to play football but unfortunately the inevitable will happen. These leagues at least have to make attempts in order to look good. It's all about trying to appease fans, etc. H2P!

While I don't want to agree with this it is most likely what will transpire!

I so want to see live FB and my Panthers!

H2P

Or when President Trump is re-elected with a Republican controlled House and Senate.

Here is the model. Brutal for Pitt!

We all have our own thoughts and opinions on things of course. Just IMO, but it's about much more than trying to look good or appease fans. Pro sports and P-5 level college FB and BB are big businesses. They have huge ongoing expenses that have to be met but can't be met unless games are played and revenue is generated. Maybe it'll just be tv revenue in 2020 and not gate or concession/parking revenue? But it is needed to allow them to stay in business.

So for pro sports and P-5 level college sports, it's about an attempt to try to be able to stay in business through this pandemic. It may not work. The seasons may get shut down. But NO business - live sports or otherwise - can survive an entire year with no revenue. And the only way to generate revenue for them is to play games.

Are there risks? Are sports essential? Are restaurants? (Heard a stat that there are 660,000 of them in the US). Are any other live entertainment businesses truly essential? I guess to the people making their living from them they most definitely are. But it was always pretty obvious to me that the pro sports leagues and P-5 college FB and BB were going to at least TRY to play. Because they HAVE to or many if them won't be able to continue to exist. May not matter to some. But it absolutely matters to them. Have to wait to see what happens.

The thing with MLB is that it is very much the canary in coal mine. MLB hasn't been doing a bad job in the early going. All of the COVID positives are on one team. The team that decided to break 'bubble' and head off to the strip clubs in the ATL.

I thought that I read where Arizona kicked a kid off of the team that broke 'bubble'. My guess is that these teams have a plan in place and it might work reasonably well. IF non one gets stupid. Too bad no one knows stupid better than the USA
