Ski mentioned this in another thread. I think is a fantastic description to the way I feel about it. While I love the tradition, pageantry and diversity of college sports, I also bemoan and despise the hypocrisy of the money. And while I think the players should have more freedom, I hate the fact that giving them more freedom essentially assures a continuing concentration of powers.
College football is a regional sport, it is definitely a blue state vs red state type of thing (and by this I mean just look at the 2016 Electoral Map, not even state by state but county by county, chances are if you are in blue, the less your area cares about college sports in favor of pro.
I think we are getting close to a tipping point where the tectonic plates are shifting and a cataclysmic event will happen over the next decade or so.
