Congrats on Fitz 16000 yards receiving

He wanted to stay in Phoenix. Tough to feel sorry for him. Could've gone to a real organization a couple of times.

And he still had a better chance at winning a Super Bowl than most players ever get. Literally inches away.

Fitz is one of a kind! Good for him! I sure hope AB doesn’t pass Fitz in any category. Top two WR’s in NFL history = ALL CLASS!

He'll be royalty in Phoenix for the rest of his life and still get his gold jacket. Not a bad deal.
Have some family there (no relation to the Grahams) and they talk about him as if , already.

He did all he could to win it too.
I honestly told people before that game I thought the Steelers would win, but Larry would win mvp because he’d be so impressive. Would’ve been the ideal scenario for me, and I really thought there was a great chance it could happen. It was pretty damn close to happening.

On Harrison’s 100 yard TD run end of first Half in SB you can literally see Fitz running through his team on the sideline after getting blocked off the field. He caught Harrison at about the five yd line. Unbelievable effort.

Fantastic, one of my top 3 fav Panthers. Hard to believe we only had him for two years.

You feel regrets that a monster talent like him could never play for the Steelers, or at least in the Steelers division so you'd see him a couple times a year at least. But it ends up a blessing that guys like Fitz, Marino, etc didn't play in Pgh, especially not getting signed out of their prime as was briefly rumored with Marino. It was unpleasant to hear the jackass Pgh media and mullethead yinzer 'tards ripping Conner today for his untimely fumble yesterday. It was absolutely a bad fumble, but far from the sole reason for the Steelers loss. But since Roethlisberger and the coaches are off limits for media criticism that was inevitable.

But from that, it occurred to me, can only imagine the crap that would have been hurled at Marino as a Steelers QB, esp given he was at least the swashbuckler that Roethlisberger is (aka, a pick machine at times) and the rest of the team wasn't all that hot for a fair number of years in the late 80s early 90s. As a Pitt-first fan hearing that is frankly tough to stomach.

Then again, Fitz rarely makes any mistake or drops, so don't know what they could have said about him.

I was thinking about Marino the other day. Had the Steelers drafted him who knows where BR would have ended up and how that would have changed the history of the Steelers over the last 30 or so years.

I don't think Marino and Noll would have meshed well. True, Bradshaw and Noll clashed repeatedly and they won 4 championships. But the times were a little different then. The rest of the team wouldn't have been the Super Steelers of the 70s either. David Little was no Jack Lambert, Weegie Thompson was no John Stallworth etc.

Plus as mentioned, the local media would have been relentless against Marino after bad games due to Pitt connection. A-hole Smizik, who was butthurt that Pitt didn't give him prime access all the time when national media interest was high during our top 5 years, was on a crusade against Pitt since the early 80s, had leaked all the dirt on Fazio to get him discredited, and likely had been the one throwing out all those innuendos about Marino drug use.
