Corhen went for 17 and 2

8 rebounds away from a double double

And he was trying to knock Leggett's miss at the end out to a teammate. There might not have been enough time for him to get a tip in, but he has to know that there isn't enough time for him to knock the ball back to someone else and for them to gather and get a shot off before the buzzer.

17 points. 7-9 from the field. 3-4 from the line. Guards his ass off 1-5. I thought you knew basketball better than that.

I posted that because it's one of the strangest stat lines you'll ever see from a Center. 17 points is great but when a Center scores that many, it usually indicates that he is usually a factor on the glass and maybe got a bunch of those points on offensive rebounds. Grabbing 1 defensive rebound in 33 minutes is crazy.

My mistake.

Ish Lowe and Dunn were 9-30 and they are main culprits for the collapse of this season
Exactly.

Lowe is now 65/176, or roughly 36.9% shooting in the ACC. Combine that with 1 assist, and the recipe is bad Caleb Love-esque.

Among all qualified players, he is still 335/344 in FG%. Even Caleb Love is more efficient than that (ranks 325th).

If you limit his stats to just ACC play, he has THE THIRD WORST FG PERCENTAGE IN THE COUNTRY AMONG ALL QUALIFIED D1 PLAYERS.

Make a change Capel. Do something. Too late now though.

He’s trying to do too much .

Wish we had Fedes 14 min 0 rebound 0 pt 4 foul performance last night instead. At least he would have given us solid D.

Welp... I guess it took the Duke coach to figure out he was left handed and to force him to go right which will lead to a turnover or missed shot. Now everyone knows and the results are predictable.

Or being forced to do too much due to stagnant offensive sets...
Basketball is a team game. This version of Capel basketball stopped playing as a team when the ACC season started. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it is because Dunn and Leggett are black holes where the ball goes to die. Maybe it's because Capel stopped playing the bench and guys like Kante, Cummings, and Jorge were not getting any minutes. Most likely it is because of Capel and his reliance on dribble drive with no backup plan. It is hard to play as a team, when the team is incomplete. Our 1,2, and 3 are pretty much the same guy. Our 5 does not rebound or try to rebound. Our 4 is an active player on defense, but on offense is a catch and shoot player. So Capel has put together a very flawed roster. It took a little while for opposing coaches to realize all the flaws, but, once they identified the weaknesses, we haven't looked like a team.
Our competition is going to get a little easier coming to the wire. Perhaps Capel can alter the lineup enough to get us to play as a team again, but, I doubt it. Regardless of who has been on the court, we don't play team defense well. If we want to win any of the remaining games, help defense has to get much better.

Excellent analysis. Spot on.

I often wonder... How different would this team be with Thiero? Probably not enough.

I think a complete reboot of staff (other than his brother obviously) and roster approach is in order. Defense and rebounding has been the only approach
that has ever succeeded here. Nothing else has, including Evans with his superior talent.

And yes, I was one who felt the Dixon II era had run its course. Both can be true
