He may have finally
found a level where he
just might do well. This
past season he sat behind
a talented and experienced
Center at St. Bonnies. He
saw 9+ minutes per game,
and averaged 3.7ppg and
only 1.7 rebounds. As
many of us know, he was
not an ACC starting center
and was over his head in
this league. I expect he'll
succeed at this lower level
opportunity. I wish him well.

I think he will be a higher level C in the America East. Good move for him. The fact that in Capel's 1st full recruiting class, which is usually your best because you can sell your vision, we ended up with an America East-level C after going 0 for 10 on guys like Wahab, Samuel, etc is basically why we're in the situation we're in.

He is now at the level
where he belonged in
the first place. His
international experience
was over hyped here,
and many thought we
were getting a legit big.
I don't go crazy over
h.s recruits and transfers.
I try and save my opinions
for when I see them in
real game time situations
once thet actually suit up
for Pitt.

1st Full Class

Champagnie - NBA but before he helped the team do anything

Murphy - couldn't get off bench at Duquesne

Drumgoole/Coulibaly - America East talents

That has to be one of the worst "1st full classes" in ACC history and is the primary reason it didnt work out for Capel here.

It’s bizarre that his first class who he had to cobble together in very short order is and will likely remain his best by miles.

Yea a lot about his tenure doesn't make sense. There was so much optimism. His first class that he only had a month on, was one of the best in a long time. We even forget about Sidy Ndir who was part of that. All that optimism and excitement and he cant even put together a decent America East level class for his first full one.

Murphy was at Duquesne? I never knew that. Where is Drumgoole?

Murphy was at Duquesne in the covid season. He joined the team midway through the year and I don’t think he played very much. Drumgoole transferred to Albany. He played in one game for them this year, don’t know what the story is there.

Although Drumgoole played prep ball in Indiana, wasn’t he from the Albany (or upstate NY) area?

Drumgoole got hurt and Murphy barely got off the bench. Possibly the worst Pitt recruiting class since the Willard class with Shin, Leslie, Flores, and Finneman. And that was Capel's FIRST FULL CLASS.
