Deslin Alexandre

Nice couple days of recruiting. Good to add a defensive recruit, can never have too many players on that side of the ball...well at least with how our depth is at the moment. I think we'll see improvident defensively this season just by playing the kids that redshirted this year.

Absolutely - We had good luck with the last DE's from FL. Romeus and Sheard were good bookends.

Deslin Alexandre - love the name. Look forward to seeing him flying around the outside and sacking QBs across the ACC.

His name fits in nicely with recruits like Paris Ford (tough name to beat), Carson Van Lynn, Dontavius Butler, Grant Carrigan, Tyler Sear, Cameron Bright, Carter Warren, Owen Drexel, Darian Street, and Kirk Christodoulou (no relation to former coach Paul Chrystodoulou).

All these names have some pizzazz. But some names don't have as much pizzazz.

Gabe Houy is OK because he's an offensive lineman.
Charles Reeves is OK because he sounds like an old-time movie star.
Albert Tucker is OK because he's from FLA, but he sounds like a CPA.
Kenny Pickett is OK even though Pickett's charge didn't quite work out as intended - our Pickett will specialize in air attacks.
Todd Sibley sounds like a character in a Dickens novel. Mr. Sibley. But he's OK because did you see the lower body on Mr. Sibley? And it only took Mr. Sibley up thru High School to grow that lower body - yikes.
Kyle Nunn is OK because he will play DB - so he can have "Nunn" of those pass completions on his watch.

Which brings me to Jerry Drake. We have a prized football recruit named Jerry Drake. I'm going to say that his name is OK because he was offered by Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee and UCLA; and he's an offensive lineman; and he sounds like an engineer (which is what he wants to study); and he's 6'7" and 300 frickin' pounds... But Pitt needs to come up with a good nick name for Jerry Drake.

Go Pitt.

Man-Drake

Play that stuck out in his highlight tape was where a kid made a catch or run well downfield & it showed Alexandre sprinting(at least 30 yards) downfield to make the tackle.
It reminded me of a few plays I have seen Bright make in his highlight reel while also seeing Brightwell make a similar play against St Penn. What it shows is a great motor that never gives up on a play while showing the player knows his speed & athletic ability can allow him to make these type of plays. Shows speed from the DE position which is a great talent to possess.
This kid will allow us to have even more comp. at a position crucial to our success. And this say's nothing about his going after a QB w/ those long arms extended high into the air to take away throwing lanes.
I could care less where any service has him ranked be it the 27th best DE or the 72nd. People take those arbitrary numbers entirely too literal.

H2 PITT !!!
