Detroit day after xmas against toledo

No. Pitt has alums all over the country that don't go to football games.
How in the hell do u know??? Were u at these bowl games? Our group will go and support the team as usual. It's the same nellie's who bitch & complain that do nothing. When in El Paso, we met Pitt fans from several other states that were alumni, fans.
When we were 7-0 it was refreshing not to see some of Pitt's lukewarm fans on here. H2P

I don’t follow the splitting of hairs of the recruits of high school recruiting battles between pitt and the dregs of college football for marginal 3 star players. Just not my thing.
Same old retort from you as well. Then why are you here ace?

Well basketball
I mean, I pay for this site and have been here doing so for 20 years and this is the first time someone accused me of not being a fan. Not sure if you pay too, so maybe you miss all the good discussions on the football pay board where myself and others discuss and find creative ways to challenge each other to donate to the collective.

It’s all good though. I’ve always considered you a good poster. And if you consider yourself more invested in Pitt football, I can live with it. It’s all subjective anyways.

Fk, we all have disagreements, arguments from time to time. Its all good. I'm just as disappointed in how the season played out. I've been very critical of PN but I'm not going to constantly be negative because it serves no purpose. Pitt needs to up the NIL $$$$ for all recruiting. Also some assistants need shown the door. I went to the Peach Bowl and Pitt had a hell of a lot more than MSU and Pitt has sold out their allotment several other times including that damn Military Bowl.

This argument is so on brand for Pitt fans much like the Stadium BS… students don’t go (despite the Panther Pitt being great the past few years)

And no I’m not saying the Detroit Bowl will sell out… but saying they don’t travel is about 15 years past it’s due date.

You said it better. Thanks for doing so.

You need to understand a few facts.

In the last 4 years Pitt had 17 (Rival 3 star recruits) taken by the NFL (7 Rounds).

That is more than MOST college football teams.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about missing the point. !

How does that make recruiting exciting? Out of HS they are nameless gray faces. They are no different than the kid BC or Syracuse got at the same position, and we aren’t celebrating that we just got a verbal from the next Pitt and NFL great. And until we are going head to with the powers of college football and winning some and losing some…my bandwidth is reserved for other things.

Again, if it excites you and others, good for you. It may be your thing but it isn’t mine. I support and follow our Olympic sports. Perhaps you or others don’t. And that’s ok. We all support our school in a way that works for us.

Why anyone would want a good bowi right now is beyond me?

This team is limping folks … limping

Go in to the bowl… get a win and move on
What about losing to a decent MAC team in front of a fairly rowdy all-Toledo crowd and diving deeper into the dumpster?

Some of you guys act like this is a layup win for Pitt, which as you said is limping already. I wouldn’t take that for granted.

So much going against this game. In Detroit, in the winter, in some unknown exhibition game with no one in the stands except the parents of the players and a few fans. No thanks. See you guys at the hoops games.
Toledo will have 30k there. It’s less than an hour from there to Ford Field and there are a shit ton of UT alums within an hour or two of the venue.

The Detroit Crap Bowl is better than the Boston Crap Bowl and the Birmingham Crap Bowl, purely due to being played in a dome.
I went to the game against BG. Ford Field is a great place to watch a game. Toledo is basically a Detroit suburb

I think you may agree that Notre Dame is a team that Pitt cannot compete with in getting Top Recruits (Rival 5/4 star players).

However, Notre Dame with all their Top HS recruits only had 21 players taken by the NFL (7 Rounds) in the last 4 years.

Not too much different than Pitt with 17 players taken by the NFL in the last 4 years.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

How is hoping they get the win while recognizing playing I don’t know Michigan or Tennessee right now wouldn’t be advantageous “taking it for granted “…? It’s completely the opposite

Right now with the conditions of this team it’s probably just about right ….like Goldilocks. lol

I fully expect Lynch at QB and Goff at TB, with Jackson Brown running on empty at the tackle spot. Probably have a better chance of seeing Santa at the game than guys like Bart, McMillon or Mumpfield.

The only hope is that many of the better Toledo players are looking to cash in and will be in the portal by that time and not play also.

Particularly against Toledo on the day after Christmas.

Don't tell Pierre (I don't want to blow his mind) but the last time Pitt played a bowl game in Detroit the day after Christmas I was one of the few Pitt fans who actually went to the game.

Can't imagine going this time though.

It's almost like you think the situation this year is the same as it was the year that we went to the Peach Bowl. Or even one of the years we played in Annapolis.

I hate to tell you this, but it is not.

Unfortunately that doesn’t add to the win totals or elevate their bowl desirability. Nice talking point and all but that’s all it is.

After our finish, I can't imagine the team has much interest in playing this game, let alone the fans having interest attending or even watching it on TV. I think they could hold this game at pine richland high school and there would not be enough interest to fill it. It is bowl games such as this one that should be eliminated.

Yah, we have alot of NFL Hall-of-famers but that hasn't exactly meant our program has excelled. It feels good to be able to say it tho.

Schools with the most Hall of Famers

Notre Dame (14)
Southern California (14)
Michigan (11)
Ohio State (10)
Pittsburgh (10)
Miami - Florida (9)
Alabama (8)
Syracuse (8)
Minnesota (7)
Illinois (6)

In total wins, Pitt is #19 among FBS programs.

Welp. Interesting matchup considering both of the squads end of the year, as well as the past history.

I was at the two last Pitt bowls vs. EMU and BGSU. Excited to see the Panthers and Rockets on the 26th.

Here's a little bowl talk. Will be going into more depth in the next few weeks as opt outs and matchup stats emerge.

About 16:30 in there's bowl talk for 8 minutes or so.

That’s great. And that’s why we love our program. But the recruiting process and the offer sheets of the kids we recruit out of high school are about as exciting to me as, well, bowl games vs Toledo in Detroit the day after Christmas.

But who knows, maybe this is a blessing. Maybe there’s a future NFL player mulling his offers between Pitt and Toledo…and after this game he picks us!! That would be so cool. Of course, we wouldn’t realize how cool it is now…but in 4 years when the kid is drafted on the 3rd day of the NFL draft, we can all have a celebratory cigar and jump on this board and have so much fun talking about the day we landed the kid.

Thanks for sharing. And these are the types of factoids that I like to discuss and read about on this board.

Not football recruiting. And not competing against MAC schools on and off the field.

But don’t be upset. Peak has been taking my money for over 20 years. I’m sure he doesn’t mind my opinion. And neither should you.
