HAIL TO PITT!!!!
And that historical talent certainly mattered a lot the last few seasons!!

Unfortunately that doesn’t add to the win totals or elevate their bowl desirability. Nice talking point and all but that’s all it is.
This.

Question for the posters that are constantly beating the "Dooz puts players in the NFL" drum--with all these guys Dooz is putting into the NFL, why isn't he winning more?

Somebody above pointed out that ND only put a few more guys than Pitt into the NFL in the relevant time frame. But ND actually wins a lot.

I don't think these posters have the capacity or objectivity to understand that by beating that NFL drum, they are actually indicting their hero, The Dooz--or, alternatively, that merely putting players into the NFL regardless of draft position, depth chart status, etc, really doesn't matter much in terms of the winning percentage, perception and prestige of a college football program.

Wait until a couple of days before the game, and get 'em for little to nothing.
With a price like that, I am not sure they realize there is no demand from this fan base to go to Detroit the day after Christmas to see Pitt play Toledo.

Likely tens of thousands more.
Toledo is in bad spirits with the fb program for reasons a little ridiculous as the 5th champ in 5 years was just crowned. If Toledo wins 11 games they want Candle fired and move the goal posts why. The BG and EMU crowds you saw the previous two will be bigger than Toledos because the Rockets stumbled down the stretch.

My Guess is 10k Toledo fans, 5k Pitt fans. And 10k locals who cheer for whoever scores.

I live in the Detroit area and I'd be shocked if there were 5,000 locals, I can see it being below 2,000 due to the new sponsor, Ford/Quick Lane used to flood the area with free easy get tickets.

If fans(not families or administration) don't buy tickets or attend that circus show, will that show the Pitt administration how the fans feel about how the season unraveled? If nothing else, it should make the new AD think .

I guarantee he reads this board

It's almost like you think the situation this year is the same as it was the year that we went to the Peach Bowl. Or even one of the years we played in Annapolis.

I hate to tell you this, but it is not.
No I don’t which is why I referred to other bowls in the Narduzzi era where the allotment got sold

Swing and a miss

Other than Atlanta and Annapolis, which bowl games did Pitt sell out their allotment without the help of the opposing school?

Don't think too hard, the answer is none of them.

Next you’ll tell me students don’t show up for a stadium a mile from campus right? Despite weekly evidence that they have far more students than most Pitt stadium games ever did.

Same old bitch and moan crew. Yawn. Self loathing to the core. Keeping it “real” lol

I have never said any such thing (and have, in fact complimented student attendance on multiple occasions), but if you keep setting up those strawmen I'll bet you can also keep knocking them down.

Oh, and edited to add, interesting that you couldn't actually answer the question though, isn't it?

Pinstripe

If Pitt has a reasonably good season and the bowl is somewhat driveable, Pitt fans will travel as well or better than most ACC teams. The problem is that Pitt rarely has reasonably good seasons and when they do (8-4, 9-3), they fall in years where it seems ND steals a bowl or there are other better traveling teams available, so they fall to the Sun Bowl and nobody goes to that.

The trolls and nellies are out in full force. I saw a huge hiatus from them for weeks when we were winning. Smh
At least the bowl game is indoors and stadium is nice. H2P!!!!

Yea. 2000 Toledo fans. 300 Pitt fans. Should be pretty hostile.
We led the league in attendance. If not for 2 cold midweek games dodging weather Toledo would have averaged a sell out at home around 26k. UT will bring 10k at least. Pitt? Your guess is as good as mine.

FIU in 2010 literally brought 500. Filled almost 1 whole section at the 50 yard line. The game still drew over 30k.

All schools have more students attend games now then they did in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

The problem for Pitt is that they need to get on yellow school busses, and are rewarded by staying all game by having to wait for the first round of busses that picked up the early leavers to make their way all the way back from Oakland.

This is a stupid way to build affinity if you plan to collect 20-50 years down the road. Idiots.
