He expected a false start to be called and initially stopped?

the guy on left end of line definitely came up from stance early on that play. However, sixth year senior has to be smarter than that

That was another gaffe by the officiating crew. The play clock expired a full second (maybe 2?) before the snap.

Phil ended up taking a 21 yard sack on a play that should have never happened because of a delay of game. So Pitt ended up with a disaster due to a penalty that was NOT called against Pitt when it should have been. And delay of game is a dead ball call so the play should have been whistled dead.

Was not watching the clock, but did see an apparent false start.

Bad officiating, but not a well coached team.

I saw the tackle move early and expected the playto be blown dead. Those refs appeared to evaluate the outcome of each play to determine whether to call a penalty

The real crime is that our guy started early and still got beaten like a drum.

Don't know how it looked on TV, but live at the game, it looked like his 'forward progress' was stopped around the 3, then he was thrown back to the 1. Doesn't change the outcome of the game in anyway, but sure makes a difference in room for the punter.
