Well, they have options. QB is a position that everyone needs and decent backups are worth something. They could trade Flacco and/or KP before the season starts. That would be my best guess for how you manage that situation if the drafted guys appear useful. What is point of drafting a 2nd QB? One or both end up on the practice squad, right?
Well, I'm thinking that even Antonio Brown would've thought that signing DeShaun Watson to a giant guaranteed contract was a stupid idea.My God! Barnum & Bailey’s got nothing on this franchise!
What next? Are they gonna hire Antonio Brown as their next GM?!?!
it is truly mindboggling. at first i thought that either Kenny or Flacco would be cut as you cant keep more than 3 qbs on roster. What is point of drafting a 2nd QB? One or both end up on the practice squad, right?
Wait for some QB's to go down in camp around the league and trade away the surplus QB's for draft picks. That's the only logic I see.Well, they have options. That seems to make the most sense. Some teams don't even have enough QB's now but a trade with a division partner seems unlikely.Wait for some QB's to go down in camp around the league and trade away the surplus QB's for draft picks. That's the only logic I see.
And that’s only until Watson can play again while carrying $137 mil in dead cap space .it is truly mindboggling. at first i thought that either Kenny or Flacco would be cut as you cant keep more than 3 qbs on roster.
but someone on here in another thread brought up a good point, they'll probably but Gabriel on the practice squad. very weird move to waste a 3rd rd pick for a practice squad QB..
but they are the browns so yeah, that's par for them. .

Why not? Eagles got a 5th and a QB for KP. Anything over the summer or early in the season would be in that neighborhood. Not much but it isn't nothing.Yeah, except their surplus isn't a surplus of good quarterbacks. Their surplus is of guys that are either old, unproven or mediocre. For example, no on is going to trade you anything of any value for a Joe Flacco that any of them could have signed this off season and chose not to. No one is going to trade you anything of any value for one of the two guys that they just drafted, guys that everyone could have drafted multiple times if they were interested in. And we've already seen, twice, the kind of value that Kenny P would have on the trade market.

Flacco was good enough to come in later in the 2023 season and he was good enough to offer a contract that could pay him $13 million this year, with incentives.
Okay, but the point is, those guys aren't worthless in the trade market. A day 3 lottery pick is still better than nothing. No suggestion there is a master strategy to pull off a huge deal but from the standpoint of what it cost to get them, they're not going to lose much, if anything.Well yeah, they might be able to get a 5h for Pickett. Which in the grand scheme of the NFL isn't a big deal.
And as far as Flacco goes, his contract is most likely going to pay him $4 million. Anyone in the league could have signed him to a deal like that just a few weeks ago. At this point he's a dime a dozen veteran backup. No one is giving you anything other than a 3rd day lottery pick draft choice for him. And if he somehow is playing well enough to have more value than that, why would the Browns give him up?

I can’t see how Gabriel makes a rosterSanders either wins the job or is cut. I can’t see them keeping that circus side show as a back up unless he suddenly transforms into a solid citizen /team guy.
KP will get a legit shot to either win the job or be the first guy off the bench. Flacco is an insurance policy in case KP totally bombs. If KP stinks out the joint he’ll be cut or they will attempt trade him
Gabriel is a lock to make the team I think the starting position is between him and KP

Gabriel is at best a practice squad player. If Gabriel is their starter for all 17 games this year they might be in line for an 0-fer, Kevin Stallings style.
