Do we have a big man coach?

No, you also don't get it. I've never said he should shoot 2-3 more times a game, but maybe he could. he has maybe 2-3 times per game where he has an opportunity to score a basket, and often because of bad footwork or indecisiveness or whatever, either doesn't score or doesn't even get a shot off, sometimes has it taken from him or makes a bad pass or yes misses a shot. With coaching and awareness, he could fix that. It's amazing that none of you get what I'm talking about.
I understand he could fix it. But you act like it is as simple as snapping your fingers and he magically has better awareness under the rim. And he magically can develop a drop step in a weeks time with you coaching him.

Look, the kid needs an off-season to work on those techniques and build the confidence in those new techniques. Taking something from theory, to practice then into a game when you step up a level usually takes an off-season to work on it. That’s why they say in sports usually a players biggest leap is from their first year to their second year.

Fede will be a different player next year on the offensive end. But YOU ain’t gonna be able to coach him up in a week even though you think you know all

What did I say that was bad, I would hope the actual coaches are saying the same thing directly to him. Did a say anywhere in a WEEK? Did I give a timeframe? No, I just said he COULD score some more if he grasps a few concepts, COULD, eventually, I gave no timeframe. Wow! Everyone just keeps ADDING THINGS that I didn't say.

Fede was 3 for 4 from the field last night, 75%. That all I care about. Although he could have had two more points if he went 4 for 3, 133%.

(just kidding around, not meant to be mean spirited)

If he learns the position correctly, he could possibly have gone up strong instead of being the 7-foot guy that hands off to a 6-foot guy in the paint that the announcers were baffled about.

To be fair, Fede was well under the hoop and couldn't take a shot where he had the ball in your example. He'd have had to dribble, which he's not good at, to be able to make an attempt at the rim.

His strides are big, with better footwork, maybe he doesn't have to dribble? learn a hook shot too. Not TODAY, not by next week. work on it, it wouldn't be impossible to score from where he was. I have it on DVR, maybe I'll go look at it again, clearly from the comments the announcers agreed he could have made an attempt to score.

Dan Bonner is old school. He thinks all big men should play like George Mikan.

Doesn't make him wrong, not all modern big men should be shooting 3s and dribbling around, not enough learn to play a post-up game like Kareem or Shaq or for that matter Mikan, although I never saw him play. You get a guy Fede's size and teach him Kareem type skills; he might succeed just because nobody is used to seeing that anymore. That was Dan Bonner, I never pay attention to who the announcers are.

That’s exactly what I thought about that play and comment as well.

I didn't, I thought he could make a move from there, without even dribbling. Are you a coach or something. That announcer seemed to think he could and so do I, what makes you right?

I am not currently a coach but I have coached a fair amount in my past.

These are GREAT things to be discussing/arguing by the way. Great things compared to the last 6-8 years.

So have I and I played that kind of position, a traditional, back to the basket center, not at a high level, but I tend to understand the basics of it, I have played against college players as well, many years ago, but I do understand some things.

Do you do want him to shoot more ?!?

Holy shit
You’re now comparing him with literal hall of famers?!!
Stop digging , your cheeks and crack are already hanging out of your jorts

I’m currently a coach
And no- nobody can make a move from the baseline under the backboard without dribbling , especially when the whole defense is collapsing on you

Holy crap

Buddy i’m way past my prime and I bet even 1 on 1 you won’t get a single shot off from the same position against a 44 year old overweight guy

I disagree, you're not any better of an authority than me, you like me are just random nobodies on an anonymous internet forum. Holy crap, you're NOBODY, your opinion is no better than mine. I coached for years and played for decades; I know at least as much as you, maybe more.

I can't believe the over-the-top stupid response to my original premise, which was totally spot on, Fede with a little better understanding of positioning and footwork could be a very good player and score a few more baskets per game, that's all I started with- and it's 100000000% true, and the over analysis and BS trying to nitpick a simple premise to death is just ridiculous. Everybody is an expert, except for me of course, well F that, show me your qualifications, otherwise you're all nobodies, just like me. MY OPINION = as good as yours. Nobody has posted anything that proves me wrong.

Like I said
I’ll give you the ball in the same position and 10 attempts to score without dribbling or travelling - and I bet you don’t even get the rim once

All we have to judge people here by is their posts.

You understand that that's not a point in your favor, right?
So you think your posts are somehow "better"? There not, like me you're just another nobody on an anonymous message board.

If we can meet somewhere I'd take the challenge, even though I am 63, have two hip replacements, a knee with no cartilage and an ankle once dislocated with nerve damage and neuropathy in both hands, I'm still certain I'd get a shot off, I'm in Maryland, Baltimore County where are you?
