Is 9:20 EST and has anyone heard from Heather Lyke? Don't expect to hear anything. The beleagured QB will continue to hop to the sidelines for a consultations with out-of-touch Whipple, Narduzzi will still brain fart all over the place See PG: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports...ark-whipple-pat-narduzzi/stories/202010250172

But how cozy is it in the upper echelons of the Pitt athletic department and what kind of oversight does/should Gallagher provide? Scott Barnes did a favor to an associate and hired Stallings despite Pitt fans protesting. Then there's Heather Lyke. Heather was selected by a committee that included Pat Narduzzi. And she's supposed to be his boss? No wonder she granted him an extension when he was in the midst of a 5-7 year. Again, where's Gallagher in the mix?

Pitt's arguments it can't fire Narduzzi because it has no money seem a little hollow.

You really don't like her, do you?

Not really. The door to the coach's office was starting to look like a revolving door. The idea was to keep things stable for a while and help recruiting.
So she essentially hired her coach, as I said

heather Lyke could kill some of your guys’ first born and you would defend every decision she makes.

If Lyke is showing patience so we can keep the athletic department in a good financial situation and then invest in a good head coach hire while paying Narduzzi a smaller buy out a year or two -- which I think has shifted from possible to likely -- it will continue to show why she's an effective AD. Yeah I hate the likely results we're going to see this year, but Narduzzi has ranged from mediocre to pretty decent. This isn't a Stallings situation. It may also be wise to make a movie in a non-COVID year with more coaches in the carousel.

Or, season tickets decline, donations decline, attendance gets worse, recruiting completely drops off and we have a ton of competition for the hottest candidates. If we were the only school to make a move we’d have a leg up on everyone else.

yeah, I don't know. The Chancellor hired him, the AD likes working with him, buyout, covid, top def player opted out, another top def injured out, best player on offense hurt, etc, etc. Don't think she's sees this as yet as Stallingsesque.

I believe Heather Lyke made some really good hires in other sports, and when the time comes, I believe she will make another really good hire in football as well, remember, she didn't hire Narduzzi,

She has, but the one sport she seemingly most in touch with , softball, she flubbed.

I would have put in a performance clause that if he failed to meet it would drastically reduce Pitt's cost to end the contract. Most people who are paid multiple 7 figure salaries are expected to perform.

You don't get the extension because nobody is signing that. Just doesn't work like that with coaching. Best you could do is move more money over to incentives but even that isn't going to make much of a difference.

It's funny people assume head coaches making millions of dollars will just sign anything to extend their contract without any demands of their own?

People who are confident in their ability want incentives, because they know they will hit them. These same people aren't concerned about negative incentives because they know they won't come into play.

We are in the middle of the season, Pitt and Heather owe you and the rest of us nothing at this point.

You think her first duty in all this is to report directly to you, don't you? And please get off the QB going to the sideline shtick. It has ZERO bearing on the team's troubles.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, accepts incentives unless they don't have the leverage to avoid them. Aaron Donald knows he's the best defensive lineman in the game but roughly 2/3 of his contract is guaranteed. That's just smart.
