Just booked mine. Luckily I was able to use points, otherwise it would have been $350. I wanted to stay downtown and not out by the airport or suburbs where there still is a lot of availability. I've been checking since Sunday and this is the first time I've seen an available room other than a hotel that's like $900/night.

Charlotte Hotels are pretty much always full or near full. We have a lot of customers visit and colleagues from Raleigh come here and the hotels even in South Charlotte are quite often full if you dont book the hotel way ahead of time

We booked some rooms at the Renaissance in South Park? The Marriott also still had availability with SPG/Marriott points. Which one is better in your opinion.

(Just snagged a couple of rooms at the Ritz downtown with points that weren't available 2 days ago. My guess is as we closer, some of these hotels may open up.)

If you don’t have a hotel yet and are looking for something nice and affordable, Matthews NC is a good place to look at. I know some people who live there and it’s only 22 mins out from Charlotte. They have a very nice Courtyard Marriott that starts around $109 which is cheaper than just about everything downtown. They also have lots of nice dining and entertainment options. It’s just off I-485 so it’s a straight shot into the city. If I’m going that’s where I’m going to be.

I live in Charlotte the cheapest way to do it is either get a hotel a little north or south of the city and take the light rail in. You can indulge as much as you want at the game and be in the right state to drive home. The stadium is about a 10-15 minute walk when you get off of the train at 3rd street.

If you are looking for something in the 100 dollar range the best thing to do is get a hotel near south blvd where it would be a 5-10 minute drive to the light rail. The light rail is $4.40 for a full day and will take you 26 minutes to get to 3rd street. You will be walking past all of the festivities and will see whoever is playing the concert ACC champ concert.

Light rail address is 9512 south Blvd, Pineville NC 28134. There is a movie theatre within walking distance of the light rail is you want something to do after or before the game as well.

South Park is very nice and there are some good restaurants in the area (one of my favorites is Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar). But you will sill need an uber to get to the game or will need to drive.

The Ritz is within walking distance. Downtown Charlotte is generally pretty safe. A number of very good places to eat as well. One of the better bars is Alexander Michaels.

Farenheit has a roof top restaurant that is pretty cool and the food is pretty good. Better atmosphere than food. If you want other suggestions on places to eat let me know. One of my favorite Italian places is Mamma Ricottas and is within Walking distance from the Ritz. very nice park to walk across the street.

Other areas to stay outside the city where room rates may be lower is Fort Mill, Ayersly which has some nice places to eat as well.

Rock Hill SC is a little farther south of the city, but you can probably find some reasonable hotels there. It’s about a 35 minute drive to the stadium...

Tisk, tisk...can't believe you shared the secret that is Al Mike's! Damn internet is ruining the secret anyways. But I wouldn't really call it a bar, although there is a small one and they do serve some of the local favorite brews.

I have to head into the Fourth Ward at least once every few weeks just to satisfy my "What It Is" fix. I used to live a block from there so I was a regular. But now that the secret is out, please note that they do NOT take reservations, first come, first serve.

Is there something wrong with Uber in Charlotte? Why is no one suggesting using Uber and staying near the airport? That was my plan but based on these responses I want to understand if I'm missing something...

uber is fine

Airport is Ok and Uber/Lyft are good, but not much to do near the airport.

I've eaten at Cowfish in Raleigh. Long wait for our table but worth it. Very cool place.

Thanks for the recs. Even though it's double the points I think we're going with the Ritz since it is less complicated. Having said all of this - obviously reliant on Pitt getting there.

If you go to Cowfish after about 5 pm you are correct.......you'll wait forever. Sunday Brunch is a great time to go. No wait.

Check Huntersville, NC. Nice suburb 15 miles north of the city, near Davidson College.

I would not suggest that. The only major roadway heading south towards the city is under major construction (I77). It's a 24/7 mess getting to and from North of uptown.

As Pittbball suggested, you're better off booking south of the city around Fort Mill than North, IMO. It's an easy ride into the city, Ubering won't cost you much.

I definitely wouldn't suggest staying near the airport. It's kinda a crappy area and nothing around other than a Topgolf.

Most of us are coming from the north I would assume. What's a good location? And I would assume parking is easy with a major city next to interstates. I seem to remember parking being really easy for the tire bowl but that was 15 years ago

Booked two rooms for Fri and Sat at the Drury Inn. $97.94 with discount AAA ...Three block from blue line into city 15 min drive if we want to drive or Uber. Really nice place if you have never stayed at a Drury's. They have ( chic.fingers, wings, etc) for snacks every night at 5:30 with soda's included free for guest.

It's definitely easy to get around, but given that the stadium is in the city, there's not much surface parking. You're better off ubering, walking or using the rail, if possible.

Parking is not bad. They have a number of garages next to the stadium and open lots all across the city within walking distance. If you want quicker access park near 277.

As someone said, Huntersville is a nice area but traffic on 77 can be bad in the AM and PM

Best place IMO is to try and get a hotel in Uptown (Charlotte folks call it up town vs down town) which is near the stadium and you wont have to worry about the hassle of parking.

Yeah I was going to say the exact same thing. Also South Park area is good as well as Ballantyne (not as many hotels)

As I said Ayersly is a good place as its right off 77 and easy access either up Tryon or 77 to BBT. Probably can take an uber and avoid parking game day and not have to worry about getting trashed.

The Uptown thing conused me. My hotel is "uptown" yet its a 15 minute walk from the stadium. There is supposedly a parking garage there for $20/day (public) so that's where I'll park.

It’s a silly pretentious thing. There is no “downtown” Charlotte. The city/skyrise area is all “Uptown”.

If you’re staying in “epicenter” where a lot of the hotels are or closer to the NASCAR HOF on the southern part of uptown you’ll have a very easy walk to BoA.

You want to stay north of the city if possible because the Clemson traffic will all be coming north on 77 into the city. Most Clemson fans will drive up the day of the game.

Email me, I can hook you up with my good friend Eustace for some lodging.

I think most Clemson fans will be coming from the west on 85, no? I'd assume some on 77, too, but the university is west.

I live in the Charlotte area so am happy to offer insight where I can. Uber is a good option, but there will be some pretty aggressive surge pricing after the game (there has been in the past). I am glad to see all the Pitt fans that will be coming down (no jinx we still have to win one more!), but remember there are a TON of Clemson fans in this area- many that wont require a hotel room and will be ubering to friends/families homes.

Clemson fans will be coming up 85 not 77. If we were playing SC they’d be coming up 77

Seems to me the split in Charlotte is about even between Clemson SC UNC NCst and duke fans

Reasonably even, but I think UNC is measurably ahead, then Clemson, then Duke/State, and USC a distant last.

you're right, my mistake. Got it confused lol....77 will get hit as well with fans all around SC.
