I love ya brother but there is not one single positive Dribbles bullet point you can offer tonight. I'm sorry you had to watch it in person
I've watched every game this year, and I think I've read every Dribbles. I know recently DT said (my perception) that it took every ounce of positivity to write post game notes. Maybe it was the FSU game, maybe another. But if I have one suggestion, DT, I say don't write another one until Pitt winsDT always has some wise and true words for the board faithful. But I don't envy him tonight. Won't be fun to put pen to paper on this one.
I sure hope so. Greene better take a long hard look at his coaches of the two top revenue teamsWas director of athletics in the house to personally witness this shiteshow?

Yea right I have zero confidence in this guy he’s been on board for 3 months and done zeroI sure hope so. Greene better take a long hard look at his coaches of the two top revenue teams

After the Toledo bowl game and this game, he is probably thinking what the heck did I get myself into? Hope he does not do a Scott Barnes. Was director of athletics in the house to personally witness this shiteshow?
At least Pitt has chosen its Olympics team's coaches wellI was thinking the same thing as I was walking out of The Pete tonight. Neither coach is capable of winning in the ACC on a consistent basis. If we want to be even somewhat competent in either sport, changes in both need to be made very soon
Will it matter? Are there enough people to donate the money to make them competitive? Pitt athletics has gone beyond stale. I don't think Urban Meyer and Calipari could turn this Titanic away from the iceberg.I was thinking the same thing as I was walking out of The Pete tonight. Well that might be a bit of an exaggeration. If Pitt could hire the likes of an Urban Meyer and John Calipari as their FB and BB coaches, the money would flow. The problem is finding the $ to bring a Meyer-like and/or Calipari-like coach to Pitt. And THEN spend the NIL moneyWill it matter? I have to admit, that one drive where Lowe got stuck under the basket and ended up turning it over was pure comedy gold. It's moves like this which shows he is not taking it seriously, at all. I said it a month ago and hurts people's feelings but I will say it again. He gots to go. Now.The early season success was fools gold. Teams have taken away the dribble drive and Capel and company have not adjusted. Still the same offense standing around and watching Lowe and legget force shots up off the dribble

LOL. Thank you. I needed this laugh. This is the most ironic thing ever posted.People's feelings on here get hurt too much. It's a game and frankly, this Pitt team is bad at it. That's just a fact. Too bad if it hurts people's feelings that aren't even the players and coaches. They need to get a life.
Eh. Pitt admin has made some dumb mistakes. All admins do. We don’t have the large passionate fanbase that will throw money to fix those mistakes (or allow the admin to make more dumb decisions). The Urban Myers and Calipari types aren’t ever comin here get use to it. Again, the Pitt administration has always been the problem.

It has nothing to do with balls. It has everything to do with $$$.He has no balls so who cares
He can look all he wants, but he's not going to be able to do anything. Both are signed through 2030. Baring complete collapse, both will get at least two more years.
Cal has wanted the Pitt job on at least (2) occasions I know of but the eggheads at Pitt would never allow it. Holier than thou nonsense that’s shortsighted and downright moronic.Well that might be a bit of an exaggeration. If the buyouts drop after next season, as some have indicated, it's very possible one or both will be gone. The problem is I don't really put much stock into people who claim to know the terms of each contract.
Nobody knows the contracts. It makes 0 sense as to why they'd both drop with 4 years left. But both are absolutely coaching for their job next season. Capel needs to make the NCAAT. And Narduzzi needs to go at least 6-6.
If the money is guaranteed, Pitt can't do a damn thing. We are arguably in worse financial shape than any P4 athletic department in the nation. After 2025, Narduzzi would still be owed $33M if it's all guaranteed. And Capel would be, what - about half of that?
Let's just hope the reduced buyout talk has some merit, in both instances.
I love ya brother but there is not one single positive Dribbles bullet point you can offer tonight. I'm sorry you had to watch it in person
I've seen publicly available contracts that were 100% guaranteed, and others that dropped in the out years. However none of them were significant drops with 4 years left. Maybe 80-90% of what's owed for those that decreased.
We've also have no evidence that Heather was a shrewd negotiator, so I'd seriously doubt there are any significant decreased after next year.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree. There isn't much sense in signing a contract if you can be bought out on the cheap with four years left on it. Probably going to have to ride it out with these guys for a while.
The dogs who caught the frisbees at halftime were fun to watch. So there's that.
a few national writers usually comment on this....why do schools sign coaches for big extensions when there is not that much demand for them. This happened not once but twice with Heather (actually 3 times as she extended Capel twice). So we are stuck with a basketball coach who makes Narduzzi look like Nick Saban in comparison.
I was never a big Lyke fan and thought just the sheer incompetence of her predecessors made her look better than she was. But now, if things continue to play out the way they have been in football & basketball (and throw in Victory Heights), Lyke will make Barnes seem like Cas Myslinski in comparison.
Going forward, when we hire a new coach, he shouldn't get any more than a 4 year deal. It's different now. There is free agency. The expectation is that you bring in 12 new players and make the NCAA Tournament in Year 1, certainly by Year 2. If Years 1 and 2 are bad, it's bye bye. Eat the last 2 years. There's no "rebuilding." There's no taking time to instill a culture. It's get to the NCAA Tournament in Year 1 or 2 or time to move on.
We're not going to be hiring a new coach for a few years for obvious reasons. Money and the AD doesn't have the guts to fire him. Be prepared for a few more dismal, non-NCAAT seasons, low attendance, and booing at the games from the few who do show up.
Likewise shortly followed by leggett doing the same (bailed out by a foul call) while Jorge was wide open in the cornerI have to admit, that one drive where Lowe got stuck under the basket and ended up turning it over was pure comedy gold. Not trueThey both have 1 year left.
Not true
Capel’s extension is through the 29-30 season
Capel has played him into to the ground and he's tired and lost confidence. When you're tired, it leads to lazy plays which makes it look like you aren't trying (like that drive, dribbling 30 feet away from the basket for 20 seconds then throwing up a contested three late in a game, etc.).I have to admit, that one drive where Lowe got stuck under the basket and ended up turning it over was pure comedy gold.
