Duzz time to go

Forget Narduzzi and this football team. They've been done since about 3 games ago and won't win another game the rest of the year. If they do, it doesn't matter.

We have a pretty good basketball team playing now, from all indications. That's where I'm putting my energy and rooting interest with the time I have available. It won't be with this pathetic football team.

There is a guaranteed portion and then bonuses and incentives. He supposedly made 4.8 total in 2021. He probably makes like 6.2 after everything now, but it shouldn't all be guaranteed.
True, if we fired him we might only owe him $5.5 million per season, but I would be absolutely shocked if his total compensation package was under $7 million this year.

I will renew for next season due to WVU and Clemson but if they suck and Narduzzi is back, I'll give them up for 2025. ND is on the schedule but so what

Cmon man you know that big buyout or not Narduzzi isn’t going anywhere after this season. Almost certainly not after next either unless it gets progressively embarrassing. If 2024 is a 4-8 type year he will probably be coaching for his job in 2025.

I think if he would have salvaged this season somehow and finished at least 5-7 then 2024 wouldn't be a red-hot seat. A 2-10 finish this year and the seat is blazing 2024 and 5-7 will cost him his job.

Exactly. We arent doing better than 3-9 so he is 100% coaching for his job next season. If he has a losing season next season, that would be 3 losing seasons in 8 years, the worst since Majors 2

If he won't get fired after 2-10, sadly because of the contract extension I can see him still going 5-7 in 2024 and Lyke giving this clown 1 more season in 2025 to "get Pitt over .500 again".

This is the problem when you extend undeserving coaches because of a miracle season. With the exception of a small handfull of schools, when you become a college football laughingstock going 2-10 and a mass exodus of players waiting to get the hell away from this mess - you can't get rid of the coach because the school doesn't have the money for the buyout.

Now with all of that being said, if he goes 2-10 or 3-9 next season I think there will be so much backlash and pressure on the administration to get rid of Narduzzi they would somehow someway find the money needed to dump him. You just can't keep a coach who goes 2-10 and 3-9 in back to back seasons. But 5-7? I could easily see Lyke justify another season for him which would suck.

And replace him with who!?

Answer that!

Who is coming to Pitt after you fire one of the most winning coaches in program history.

Nobody wanted the job before and nobody is going to want the job now.

And when I say nobody, I mean no ready-made coaches.
This is dumb. This isn’t running off Jamie Dixon whose last year was still fine. People will know that Narduzzi burnt this down.

Agreed.

I don’t like this season, obviously. But I don’t think you fire him based on one losing season. I do think if you are the AD, you find a way to force a change in offensive philosophy/coordinators. Like someone else said, let him put his focus on the defensive side and get back to where we were a few years ago.

If he disagrees, let him resign.

If you owned a company and one of your managers was mediocre his whole career except for 1 miracle year and then followed that up with a historically bad year, what would you do? There is only 1 reason he wont be fired. The buyout. This season is a fireable offense.

If she thinks 8-4 is disappointed, what is 2-10?
Yeah that’s kind of my point. The Fan mentioned her saying that last year and were speculating on the very thing the other day.

Of course some people here get hot and bothered when the Fan talks about such things because they are our flagship. I guess they are supposed to ignore the fact that this season has been a disaster and instead pretend that things are wonderful.

This is one of the dumbest things ever written on this board.

No, fans will just quit by the thousands. Wait until next year and we see the "crowds" at Acrisure. If they get 20,000/game, they'll be lucky.
I dont disagree. If Narduzzi is retained and doesn’t make sound hires, 15,000 a game is more likely. The WVU game next year may be 80% their fans. For the Kent State and Youngstown games, it’ll be a funeral home.

This is correct. And to Captain’s point, Narduzzi is already focused on defense, he admitted to spending way more time with the defense. The way bigger problem is Narduzzi’s defense isn’t good and got gashed for 380 yards by a bad offense who couldn’t throw the ball. This defense got bullied, continually punched in the mouth and just laid down and accepted it. That’s most worrisome.

Remember when you bozos were begging for an extension after the ACC Championship?

There was a reason the guy who just won that was still showing up 6th or 7th on some of these "ACC Coach Rankings" list. Everybody and their mother who have an ounce of objectivity knows a doofus caught lightning in a bottle.

He's going nowhere for at least three years. We could win zero games the next two years, and he'll be back in 2026. We just can't afford to burn $5.5M/year.
Well…you can negotiate a buyout and extend his payments out over 20 years. The perceived notion that you just have to cut him a big check is not accurate. He can be canned tomorrow if you have at least one competent attorney on staff at Pitt.

but the love for heather remains even though she is responsible for football and basketball coaching contracts.....
She’s a great designer of team uniforms….other than that her calling card is giving out contract extensions like candy at Halloween.

Here's my question.

When the day comes that Narduzzi gets Sh$tcanned,

Who is going to fire him?

Cuz i got a paycheck on Heather will be in Columbus when that day gets here.

What “indications” do you speak of? Blowout wins against 2 total tomato cans?

Let’s see what “all indications” are after the first 2-3 weeks of ACC play. Then we should have some realistic idea of what kind of team we have.

She cares, and I’m sure deeply, but she has to work within her contractual, budgetary and institutional constraints.
The culture of the school for nearly a hundred years is that it doesn’t care. In the rare few years that it does, that gets quickly extinguished. And no, merely paying a head coach like literally every other school with football does is not ‘caring’.

If anyone at OSU has closely scrutinized what she’s done at Pitt, she doesn’t have a prayer to get that job at OSU. And if she somehow does get it, that might be a very good thing for Pitt ….Narduzzi would then be objectively evaluated by someone who won’t have to try and justify the ridiculous contract extension Lyke gave him.

OSU hiring an AD from a football program that fell off the cliff after winning a conference championship? And a Michigan person to boot? That hire would bring the pitchforks out in Columbus.

This and alot of people said we couldn't fire Stallings either. It's about selling tickets, getting donations and creating excitement for next season. PN needs to go. H2P

even when the team was doing well, Heather exceled at none of these. She's done nothing in terms of marketing, and refuses to consider the tarping issue. The only thing I'll give her credit on is reconfiguring the student section. That's worked out pretty well.

Say what you want about Pederson, but at least he tried some marketing. Most of it didn't work, but at there would be billboards and stuff trying to drum up some interest. Heather does nothing to try to improve attendance or Acrisure

Not what I heard from people inside the athletic dept. She is very competent IMO to make a good football hire.

well that is Job #1 so if she does that major kudos for sure, but the other things that I've mentioned are definitely lacking.
Look, I'm not going to keep going back and forth about PN's future here. He needs to go and that's it. I love Pitt and been down this road before. Better days ahead H2P!!!

Average fans or not, how many posters during the game posted “wtf” comments? He’s gotta go. You just have to look at close ups of him on the sidelines thanks to television. ” retarded” is not politically correct nor should it ever have been - but “retarded mule” is forever ingrained in my brain. Still laughing at that one.

There is a -0% chance that OSU is hiring a Michigan alum who ran a football program into the ground. I have a better shot at it. Heather is on the hot seat here.
