Chaney did design things so that Peterman would be the quarterback. This was totally unfair to Chad (and could divide the team) but it will work out better in the long run.

Chaney can and will recruit qbs - We would have had much less of a chance last night without a vertical passing game. (I just would have hoped we would have avoided D.King's coverage)

The onside kick coverage in the previous game was insane. Coach Powell showed some improvement last night. After the first punt (where we allowed their punter to take his time and run to the side and kick it) pinned us at our four, Powell made an adjustment that forced their punt to stay in line and get the punt off more quickly. Powell later devised the big punt block. Great adjustments.

Last night was also the most physical I have seen our defense look in a long time. We were really hitting, especially the qb.

Narduzzi has the team looking organized and disciplined. I do think we are on a path up.

Narduzzi has made a few bad decisions already. The onside kick formation, not going for it on 4th and inches last night and the timeout before the first field goal attempt.

Our bowl game might be responsible for the onside kick decision, but that is not a legitimate excuse.

You have to go fourth and inches. Run a quarterback sneak. Iowa at that point, will not sell out to stop the sneak - that would be too dangerous for them. They would have played it conservatively and hoped our drive would stall or we would miss a fg.

You have to make a statement that you have confidence in your team there.

You do not call time out to freeze the kicker attempting a 57 yard field goal. All you are doing is giving him a practice kick.

It seems Narduzzi is watching too much football on TV with his lets trick them and draw them offside and lets freeze the kicker gambits. He is a new coach and hopefully will learn

Outside of the above, I like how the team looks and where we appear to be headed. - H2P

You make it sound like they set up Chad to fail with the plays they gave him, I couldn't disagree more. Peterman is the better passing QB, that has been obvious to me since he completed the pass to Ford vs YSU. Chad doesn't get the same plays as him because Chad doesn't have the skills or arm strength to make most of the passes. Chad's only advantage is his legs but I'll take lack of mobility all day if that QB is more accurate and has a stronger arm. Peterman's only bad plays last night involved bad decision making more than they did lack of skills. The ball should have never been thrown in either case but after that his decision making was much better and I'm guessing it will continue to get better as the season goes on. He needs to be named the clear starter.

Chaney did design things so that Peterman would be the quarterback. This was totally unfair to Chad (and could divide the team) but it will work out better in the long run. He didn't design it specifically for Peterman, it is the offense he thinks can best help the team run. And, either way, Chad simply has not performed at any kind of level to be a viable D1 QB you can win with. I agree that they have to tread carefully with the team, but these kids want to win, too. They gave Chad enough chances and they saw that he wasn't getting it done o the field.

Chaney can and wacill recruit qbs - We would have had much less of a chance last night without a vertical passing game. (I just would have hoped we would have avoided D.King's coverage). That first INT, he will learn from. The way King played that you don't even look to throw it, you to go the next progression.

Narduzzi has the team looking organized and disciplined. I do think we are on a path up. AGREED. The had 3 penalties for 15 yards last night. We have, going back to Harris FOREVER seen every coach, even Graham, struggle to get the offense set up. We saw almost every game at least one TO on offense because they didn't get a play in. You aren't seeing that. Defense still is adjusting, they look to be getting set a bit late at times.

They would have played it conservatively and hoped our drive would stall or we would miss a fg. I disagree. It looked bad because they jerked around with that Bill Cowher stuff trying to draw them off sides. But, Iowa was killing the in the run game all game. There was NO back they could trust to make that play if, and it would most likely, Iowa blew it up, and I disagree that they would have let Peterman just sneak it. He isn't weak but he isn't a corn fed guy like theres was. The only play I would trust there was a short pass to Boyd.
I posted this somewhere else. IMO, if they had Conner, they would have went for it and IMO gotten it, because HE would have made it. They just did not have a someone to count on to make the play.

You have to make a statement that you have confidence in your team there. Overstated and not the time to pick that fight.

You do not call time out to freeze the kicker attempting a 57 yard field goal. All you are doing is giving him a practice kick. Maybe, maybe not. Most coaches freeze the kicker regardless of the situation.

It seems Narduzzi is watching too much football on TV with his lets trick them and draw them offside and lets freeze the kicker gambits. He is a new coach and hopefully will learn Maybe a bit. But, this is the first for real college coach the program has had outside of Graham in a LONG time.

WR Tyler Boyd and TE JP Holtz are 1-2 in the passing game, then it is your RB.

WR Dontez Ford made a great play and King nearly allowed him to break it open on the sidelines.

Pitt desperately needs to develop a #2 and #3 WR.

Iowa reduced Boyd's yardage by 23 yards this game. He did score a TD though.

I am not sold on either QB. However, it is a transition year and the defense looks better than last year for the Panthers.

Best wishes @ VA Tech. I like Pat Narduzzi better in the Iron City, than East Lansing.

It's been mostly good. Especially defense.

There have been a couple "Duzzies" however, (I'm trademarking that term; hopefully it won't be needed every week).

The kickoff vs YSU. Dumb, could have been killer.

The jumble of the back up tailbacks. Ollison is clearly the best guy. James never had it, and Hall doesn't, yet. In fact the 4th down call we're castigating is due to Hall's 3rd down run. He had a sweet hole to cut back for the first down, but staggered right into the tackler instead. He'll learn, but he hasn't, not yet. This aint a trade school. It's quasi pro sports. Play the better guy.

And, at this point, jumbling the QBS would be a dumb, pointless thing to continue to do. Peterman is the man. It was clear after Akron, better or worse. Chad is history. In fact, they should phase Bertke in as first backup now, because his game is closer to Peterman and to Chaney's style.

And of course the 4th and millimeters call. Putrid. Decimated the morale of the team, made Iowa soar with confidence at that point, and the D collapsed on the resulting possession, which ended up the difference.

He'll learn (we hope) that those kind of in the moment moves can have impact that resonate through the rest of the game and beyond.

But beyond the Duzzies (R), it's been mostly good.
