Edsall not doing any dances tonight...

Every once in a while justice is served. This is the tool who called out and humiliated his stud running back in front of the team for his decision to enter the draft early only days before he would pull a Todd Graham and slink out of town for Maryland. Couldn't win in the ACC or when he took a step down in competition to the Big 10.

Link?

(edit: Head scratching why UMD hired him in the first place. Just reinforces my opinion UMD is a dumpster fire, not just with athletics. http://espn.go.com/college-football...y-edsall-coach-maryland-terrapins-next-season)
Thanks for posting that link--I didn't know that Maryland has its own Phil Knight. It will be interesting to see the impact this guy has on the program in upcoming years:

One factor working in Maryland's favor is the financial backing of Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank, a former Terps football player. Plank, a billionaire and member of the Maryland Board of Trustees wants badly to see the program improve.

Unbelievable that they would give any consideration to Mike Locksley for the interim spot. Guy was 2-26 on the field at New Mexico and had multiple incidents off of it. He is on the short list of worst head coaches in recent history.

Have you seen their uniforms the last couple of years? They are the drawing board of Under Armour.

The fact that you had no idea that there was such a person tells you the sort of impact he's had so far. This isn't some new guy just coming on to the scene.
Truth be told the Maryland football program has always been so putrid and irrelevant in my mind I don't know anything about it other than that they have always sucked. But if Under Armor guy opens up the checkbook the way Knight did at another place that never mattered in the world of college football until about 10-15 years ago, that could all change.

reportedly asked to GTFO by Maryland. Pretty sure they won't be looking at Wannstache to replace him.
Maryland to fire coach Randy Edsall as soon as this week!
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...d-will-part-ways-with-coach-randy-edsall-soon

Maryland now joins Illinois is looking, Rutgers is next, and looks like joining the Big Ten is not what they expected, Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin Fans are concern too. Throw in Minnesota just got a New Coach 2 years ago with Michigan this year, and Purdue might not be too far behind either.

Right now only NW, Iowa, MSU, Indiana, OSU, Michigan look safe for now!

What cracks me up the most is that he signed an EXTENSION in June and they're willing to absorb it. LOL. Dumpster fire.

More proof that, as a coach, the stars can align and you can have success at a crappy place, and you can still be nowhere near as good as you or your fanboys think you are.

Former Penn State Assistant Larry Johnson could be a Candidate being from Baltimore and recruits Maryland! I would not rule out the following candidates either:
Temple-Rhule
Arizona-CoachRod
Marshall
Memphis
Bama-Kiffen

Time to pick off some Recruits, Franklin will be there tomorrow afternoon!

The Terrapins have struggled, but there are several reasons a big-time coach should want to lead them.

If reports are true and Maryland indeed fires head football coach Randy Edsall in the coming days, it will open up what should be one of the most attractive head coaching openings in the country – as long as Maryland does the right sales pitch.
The Terrapins, as a football program, are miles from perfect. The fans don't pack old, rickety Byrd Stadium every Saturday, and the Big Ten East is one of college football's hardest divisions to win. But there's a lot going on here that prospective candidates should like, and that means Maryland has no excuse not for hitting it big with Edsall's successor.

Whether the search begins this weekend or in 10 years, here are four reasons Maryland should be able to get the right person for the gig:

1. The Under Armour connection
Beside Oregon and Nike, no school and apparel designer are as closely intertwined as Maryland and Under Armour. UA founder Kevin Plank is a former Maryland football player, and his company gives Maryland the kind of support few schools get from the businesses that make their equipment. Because of Under Armour, Maryland has cool uniforms that recruits should love, a distinct brand identity and also ...

2. The new Cole Field House

Plank ponied up $25 million for Maryland's massive renovation of Cole Field House, matching the contribution of the state government itself. The project is questionable from a state and university budgeting priorities standpoint, but it's an absolute home run from a football standpoint. In five years, Maryland's going to have the nicest football headquarters of any university anywhere (save, maybe, for Oregon). Coaches like that, and so do recruits. Speaking of which ...

3. Fertile recruiting ground
The Washington, D.C., metropolitan area has a lot of good football players in it. So does the state of Maryland as a whole, in fact. Next year's incoming class of Maryland high school players has 12 four-star recruits, according to 247Sports. The year after that has eight. Those aren't quite Texas or Florida numbers, to be sure, but here's the thing: Maryland doesn't need them to be. The Terps are the only major college program anywhere in the state, and the only geographic competitors to in-state prospects should be Penn State and perhaps Pitt and Virginia. Of course, other factors come into play – coaches, relationships, prestige, family situations, scheme fits and more – but geography's a helpful starting point. Overall, it is also in Maryland's favor.

4. The Big Ten
The Big Ten isn't by any stretch the country's best college football conference. But the league offers every bit the big-time atmosphere recruits want, and that shouldn't be underestimated. Edsall himself has cited the Big Ten as a recruiting edge, and perhaps it helped him put together what is, for now, one of the country's better classes for next season. Maryland gets to – or has to – play against Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan every year. Some years, they'll play multiple games in front of crowds bigger than 100,000 and in a league that has a deal with ESPN and its own TV channel. That's a good pitch for recruits, and it should be a good pitch for a head coach, too!

But that's the point. The Under Armour guy's check book has been open for years. That doesn't mean that he might not make a difference in the future, but so far he hasn't gotten much bang for his buck.

Interesting to see how they perform against Ohio State. If they pull the upset Edsall may land another job somewhere. Ohio State has not looked all that great this year so it's possible, but Maryland might be the worst P5 team in the country.

Not a very appealing job. If Justin Fuente doesn't take a better job possibly him. His name has been coming up for jobs the past couple years.
I don't think it will happen but ever since the P5 became such a huge step up from the other conferences I've wondered why O'Leary is still at UCF. Maybe they look at him but I don't know if he'd even take it if they do.
Rhule from Temple is probably due to move to a better job, that's a possibilty.
Other than that, they may just have to look for a coordinator somewhere. Like I said, not a very appealing job at all.

They are not the only major football team in Maryland. The Naval Academy has been more successful over the past 10 years!

Hail to Pitt!

Would have to think Larry Johnson on the list with his recruiting connections to the area. Plus UMD could get him relatively cheap as he's never coached a game. There could be worse decisions made

He could get the band back together, Bradley and Jaypa, the three blind lice.

Is this for real? This has been mentioned for about a week now. And nothing has happened.

O'Leary is still at UCF because that's probably his last job--pretty much near retirement age.

Rhule I don't see making any moves until and unless he established a more solid run of success (less than 2 1/2 seasons in, and even if this season pans out like it's looking, it will be his first winning season).

I could see RichRod taking the job. His seat's not hot yet in the desert. but it will be soon. If they're looking to climb in steps, RichRod's not going to take them to a National Championship, but he could get them to a Wisconsin type level as an intermediate step.

The football program there hasn't done much, but the hoops program has reestablished itself as an elite, and is favored to win the Big 10. If they can keep it going for a few seasons, they will be a monster in the Big 10. They're located in an area with a deep talent pool, and if they establish themselves as a Big 10 power, they'll also be able to land the occasional Chicago kid, as DC will be a very attractive location for Chicago, and Detroit kids who want to get away from home, but don't want to spend 4 years in Hooterville.

On the opposite end of former Penn Staters, if Al Golden is fired and gets offered the Maryland job he better take it. Otherwise he will not have a job coaching a P5 team next year.
Golden will fall farther down the pecking order than a P5 job if doesn't turn it around soon. Maybe Pitt can provide the final nail in the coffin in November.
