Brings pressure relentlessly on downs 1-3 on the last critical ND possession, forces a 4th and 16, then backs off and goes with a 3 man rush. Hartman has all
day and just runs it for an easy 18 yards.

Loses his QB likely for the season on a last hopeless possession with 30 seconds left. Because he didn’t get the stop on 4th and 16. Because he didn’t bring any pressure.

Brilliant!

Yea I was watching too. The 4th and 16 run came right after the announcers talked about how he wanted to stay aggressive. Until he didn’t, whoops.

Yeah but dropping 8 is what you would call for EXACTLY that situation (the one that happened, I mean). Like, a QB sneak like that is part of what it's meant to protect against. I'm willing to bet one or two guys made some pretty boneheaded mistakes on that play.

I initially thought he should have brought pressure also, and I still do, but that shouldn't have been what beat them with the defense they did call.

Sam Hartman folds like a cheap suit under pressure. To not at least rush four is idiotic. He lost that game. You have to make the qb feel some pressure

You always have to bring pressure especially against a good QB. Always.

Lost the game on that one play by not doing so. Huge, game losing mistake. Maybe Elko is smart enough to learn from his mistakes, unlike the dummy coaching our Panthers.

I agree they should have brought it. Just shocked that you could have 8 guys in coverage and let a qb scramble for 18 yards. Like, some at least 4-5 guys would have to be sitting in a zone and looking right at him.
