It is looking like the EPL may return in June with the remainder of the season (10 games) played in empty stadiums.

As for the NFL, Trump said he thinks it will start on time but CA Gov. Newsome said he doesn't anticipate the CA teams doing so. I, do, however think its possible for thr NFL and NCAA to start relatively on time, but in empty stadiums.

Heather Lyke didn't sound like the NCAA would play in empty stadiums, not sure how the NFL would feel about that but there's just about a 0% chance fans will be allowed in the fall so do these 2 leagues decide to play with no fans or possibly delay until the winter or spring in the hopes of fans being able to attend?

I would be shocked if the NFL isn’t playing games in September, the EPL in June seems a little premature though.

I guess it can’t start soon enough for Kyle Walker, saw he gave a public service announcement encouraging social distancing then got busted hosting a sex party a few days later. Nice.

College sports depend on whether or not students are back on campuses. There’s no way they’re playing games if kids are still taking classes remotely.

What I’ll be interested to see is if a delayed (or canceled) fall sports season or even a delayed winter sports season would have an impact on other Olympic/Title IX sports since their funding comes from football.

Given that Pitt football attendance has been social distancing for decades, once Trump gives the ok it business as usual at Heinz field.

The NFL owners will "scrape together" a cool billoon for vaccine research and boom!!

NFL goes off like nothing ever happened.

I wonder if NCAA teams will look to Pitt for advice on social distancing for football games. Pitt has been a pioneer at this. No other school demands that 70K seats be made available for 30K fans so families can have entire rows or entire sections to themselves.

Yeah, I love the response from some fans here on tarping off some sections. "Yeah, but I like having seats away from everyone". OK. You may just get your wish. On the positive, it evens the playing field in recruiting against schools like PSU or tOSU.

EPL is out of it's skull. they just refuse to live in reality. they're going to cite their stupid contracts and all of that nonsense. totally absurd. tossers (using this in an appropriate thread).

I think it depends on social distancing guidelines. By June, the virus is supposed to be at February/early March levels and if that happens, I dont see soccer games (or any sports) posing much of a threat if there are no fans allowed. With so many stadiums in London, you could play all the games there and stay there for the remainder of the season.

it's barely spread to rural areas in the US and england is even farther behind us. they have the contracts that go into june 30th and they're just trying to beat that. but there's no way to plan at this point. no one knows. london isn't taking this thing seriously whatsoever. it's actually pretty sickening to think you can cram people into a large stadium at this point. for me.

that's even dumber. they were talking about trying to quarantine the players in some location. idiots.

Having soccer (or any sport) on TV with no fans is better than not having it at all. Get used to it because that's how American sports will be for awhile

oh, do i want it? absolutely. is it a terrible idea for the health and safety of humans? also yes.

There infection rate per million people is much higher than ours, and their death rate per confirmed cases is several multiples of ours. If they truly are far behind us they are going to soon be in Italy or Spain territory. Or worse. Perhaps much worse.
