Coming in was horrendous. 3 hours before kickoff and I was stuck in traffic 1.5 miles from Stadium.
Why you ask.
Because the exit ramp merged two lanes into one and then into 2_lanes.
The situation cried for traffic cop. The first one I saw was at the entrance to the parking lot.
I'll skip the details but suffice to say that had I followed the traffic cops, my 1 hour to go one mile would have been 90 minutes.
I was 1.5 from the stadium 3 hours before the game. I got out of the car 95 minutes before kickoff.

Somehow $10 for 3 cold wet pretzels made sense in the 1.5. Hour wait... #pretzelremorse
$5 for a slightly warm chocolate was pretty bad too. But overall, other than the outcome, it was a great time.

Heinze Field is a nightmare on game days.
Not really.

68000+ at the ND game, didn't leave until the end of the game, and I got to my home 30 miles from Heinz in 45 minutes. Anybody who knows the traffic patterns around Pittsburgh gets out of Heinz fairly quickly, even when the crowds are large. Went to the Sunday Night Colts-Steelers game last month and the same thing. Parked near the casino and got home less than an hour after I left.

N-MC Stadium today was horrendous getting in and out. The cops directing traffic out of the stadium lots were either drunk or stupid.

Not to worry, logistics aren't that important for the Navy. Was incredible, like they had never played a game there before. Perfect finish to yet another punch to the gut, crap of the bed from our Panthers.

The traffic was horrible. Pulled into parking lot at 10:45 no direction by "parking attendants" except for looking at you and staring then barely waving the flag to direct.

On way out cars were at a dead stop. Cops looked clueless and like they were directing traffic for the first time ever.!took way to long to get out

Negative. Follow the Internet tips....arrive early. It was posted everywhere to arrive early because of road closures for the parade at 1030 and now you complain about traffic when trying to arrive at 1130? We arrived at 0800 hours, stayed until game was over and still made it back to York at 1930 hours. Btw, we parked in the gold lot.

I too was home to York County at 730. I exited the game got in my car, probably a 20 minute wait in the lot exiting. I left exit 1 on the map and really didn't have much difficulty at all

Thank you Ratking.......some people are amazing if they don't have a Presidential motorcade. I also imagine the same people complaining about the cops have never or could never be a cop. No idea about what it's like to handle traffic after an all day drink / party fest and try to get people like you to move. Btw, I'm sure they were there standing for the 16 hours while you could sit and enjoy the game and have a cocktail. Just saying, been there....and retired from a major city with several pro teams.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. We left at 7:25 and were in the elementary school "lot" at just before 12:00. Only issue with traffic were the absurd light patterns on one of the roads heading in. It took maybe 20-30 minutes to get out, but virtually smooth sailing after that. Made it home before 11:00 with a four hour drive.

I don't want a presidential motorcade. But I have been to many venues, including OSU, Michigan, ND, PSU, VTECH, where the number of people coming in greatly exceeded this game. Never have I faced this 3 hours before kickoff.
It was poorly planned.

Not poorly planned....just no where to go....residential streets all around. It's the location. They used to play this in D.C. Not big enough crowds. Downtown Anpls traffic is always tough.....old, old city/narrow, hilly streets, water blocks you out. I love the place. But the traffic after our 2013 game was pretty bad, too.

For those complaining, as I mentioned in a previous post thread warning of the logistical issues, the USNA has nothing to do with the management this game. They don't play in it every year (they were in a three-game rotation prior to joining the AAC and are honoring those comittments this year and next). Everything is managed and run by the Military Bowl: concessions, parking, security, etc. I'm a Navy season ticket holder who parks and tailgates every week and it's never an issue. This bowl game, on the other hand, is always bad. I walked this year for that reason. The feedback and blame should go to the bowl group not Navy.

We should all contact Military Bowl folks about traffic mess. No excuse for this. They knew how many people were coming. Just p poor planning. We were in Gold lot right near the road and it took us 45 minutes just to get onto road out of the parking lot.

And some guys think a new stadium in Oakland is a good idea.....

Yesterday reminded me of all the headaches we had when we played at Pitt Stadium.

And the reason why we shouldnt take Heinz for granted so much. I could have driven home and back to Heinz Field twice in the time it took to get out of the Gold lot at yesterday's game.

I'm guessing didn't help being a Monday at rush hour (there's a lot of traffic at the intersection next to the stadium on days without a game). All the more reason to have additional traffic police on hand. I live three blocks from the stadium, which hosts numerous events (as does the city - boat shows, etc). It never seems to be as bad as the Military Bowl for some reason. What's more surprising is there are less cars in the lot than regular Navy games due to the giant tailgate party tents taking up so much of the parking lot (cars are jammed in for Navy games). I'll pass on the feedback if I get the chance. It was much quicker getting through security and into the stadium this year, though, believe it or not.

Security going into the stadium was nonexistent, compared to Heinz. This is a GOOD thing. The way they do it at Heinz is absolutely RIDICULOUS and doesn't make it any safer. I've gone to many events at other stadiums.... including just 600 yards away at PNC Park.... and security has never been the nightmare that it is at Heinz.

You'll never convince me Heinz is safer than PNC Park, the Consol Center, the Pete, or any of the various road venues I've been to..... .yet they are much more stringent and practically strip-search you.

I was amazed that there was NO SECURITY...............I walked up about 1:30 thinking that the first group of people were the "security" and they would check us out and then move on to the ticket taker, he just said "where is your ticket" and scanned it and I walked in.................. I could have been carrying a my .38 target gun with 8 inch barrel and walked in no problem................ my biggest problem was the having 4 urinals where there should have been two, I was pissing from 2 feet away between two guys................... one guy yelled, don't worry I have big 12 inch I'll just stick it between those two guys!! LOL>

I recalled your post when I was going thru it. Love the Naval Academy and all it stands for. Sure wish the Bowl Committee would tap their resources.

Makes sense. After the game I expect it to be bad...everyone leaving at once.
But I really felt bad for the people who merged into the road trying to get over two lanes.
