Favorite radio jocks ever?

This is mine. If there was ever a better radio DJ, i never got to hear him..

O'Brian and Gary in the late 70s. I believe they were on WTAE AM.
Funny as hell parodies:
Mr. Science (Mr. Wizard) , Lt. Macho (Kojak).
Traffic reports by female side kick Scout (piece paper)
Best morning drive jocks ever.

Doug Hoerth (I think that is how his last name is spelled). When I was at Pitt he had a daily talk show on WTAE (which was Pitt sports flagship at the time)

You could tell he had a long road on the radio.

Howard Stern is still great- especially when you get rid of most of the side characters. Best interviewer ever

I say that to my wife all the time. I don’t listen to his show very often anymore, but when I do, it is strictly for his interviews. The rest of the show is kind of boring to me. I feel like it’s the same recycled jokes over and over and over again. However, as an interviewer, he is the best I’ve seen since Mike Wallace in that regard. Howard Stern is an absolutely phenomenal interviewer.

Loved Doug Hoerth.

Was that the year they swept into the Pittsburgh market out of nowhere (converting the old staid WJAS) and took it by storm? They had an all-star cast of personalities.
Yes.

Are most of these guys being listed really DJs. DJ=disc jockey, a guy who plays records. Think guys like Porky, or Terry Lee, that primarily played records. A lot of the people listed I would consider "radio personalities" as opposed to disc jockeys. I liked Doug Hoerth, but I never remember him playing records.

O'Brien and Garry were great. I agree the late Doug Hoerth was a terrific host. Now a days I change channels so often I do like Cris Winter on Wssh locally.

He had a Sunday night oldies show

It's a shame that Stern went to satellite radio, as he was great to listen to 15-20 years ago.have listened to him on Sirius XM and he isnt the same anymore.

Ed and Wendy King not D Js per say could add Rege Cordic dating myself but listened prior to school , I always liked Sean McDowell, low key and great insight into the music

Scott Paulson WDVE. He was very funny when paired with comedian Jim Krenn.
Their predecessors Jim Roach and Steve were pretty good as well.
There was a guy whose name escapes me on WYDD, early 70’s that did those block party weekends. Good stuff.
Wasn't that Sean McDowell before he went to DVE ?

An interesting fact about “Party Line” Ed and Wendy King call in show on KDKA. The voices of those calling in were never heard over the air. Only Ed & Wendy’s voices telling the listeners what the caller said. This program was a nightly staple on KDKA radio for decades.
