First bowl projections are out

A lot of you guys are no fun at all. Sheesh.

Feel happy that someone thinks we can scrape enough together to win 6.

Things can certainly change of course but the core talents of most teams are fairly well known, their schedules are known etc. and thus making predictions even now is not totally unreasonable.

In our case, even if Whipple is an incredible genius and can wrest actual competence out of Pickett, which is our biggest (but not only) big question mark ... Pitt still isn't likely to rise much out of our usual 5-7 to 7-5 range. Even 8-4, depending on how derived and how our peers do, heck, we might still tumble to that middling bowl predicted for us.

As for some of the blue bloods getting unjust high rankings or predictions, it definitely adds pressure to those coaches...in the end, if those teams come up short of expectations, the piper will be demanding...

Anyway, it's just fun

Actually, that bowl would probably take 8 wins to get into so that feels like a true top end compliment. If you're looking for silver linings.

The Pitt team with Peterman, Conner, Biz, DJ, Quadree, Brian O Neill, Whitehead and Tyrique Jarret went 8-4

This years team has nowhere near that level of talent

If we get Navy in the military bowl at 6-6 it is a successful season.

I guess I wasn't clear, I think he'd be an idiot to play 2 more years of college football, but only slightly less of an idiot if he played 1-2 seasons in the XFL or Powerful Pacific Football Experience, or whatever the hell it's called. He should play 1 more season of college football then hire an agency and work with a qb trainer (Whitfield or Weinke) for a year before the draft.

How much would you like to bet he won't do that?

It's amazing the ideas people on here come up with.

It's one thing to leave early when a player is eligible to leave early.
It's a completely different thing to sit out a year for your personal financial gain.
Clemson is a proud program and IMO if he did that he wouldn't be considered a
part of the Clemson family.

He's a Clemson guy, he has character, he'll demonstrate his
character something the NFL appreciates (since a lot NFL players are character-less), he'll win another NC or close, he'll get drafted and make a ton of money and he has his Clemson affiliation still intact.

For a lot of wealthy NFL players some of their closest friends and best memories are their college coaches and teammates not NFL associates.

Imagine a college football preseason where instead of being projected a bowl that a 6 win ACC team would get, it's something like:

"Orange Bowl: Pitt vs. Auburn"

...nope, I can't imagine that either.

Why even bother playing the games?

EXACTLY, 'Bama and Clemson should play the CFB Championship Game every year on Labor Day to make sure they are both fresh and have no injuries, then the NFL Draft can be September 1st, that way none of the top players will get hurt actually playing football.

If we are going to end up in a minor bowl, then Annapolis is my choice. We had a good time last time we were there.

I like Annapolis, I've seen Pit play there, and for selfish reasons (it's less than an hour from my house) I would like a game there again.
