I just saw a tweet from his dad (also the head coach at Tennessee-Martin) that he has earned his bachelor’s degree already. I’m not even sure how it is possible to graduate college in 2 years, but hats off to that young man. He will be a graduate student sophomore in terms of athletic eligibility this coming year at UTM.

My nephew earned enough credits in high school to enter Kent State as a Sophomore.

That's ridiculous. Good for him.

He’s got nothing on Doogie Howser.

At that rate he should be able to get his PhD before his basketball eligibility runs out !

Congrats to Parker! That's why he's in college. Now he can concentrate on a graduate degree and getting ready for a pretty decent career. What was his major and his degree in?

Including summers, he has been in college for 7 semesters, most people graduate in 8 semesters plus he may have had some AP credits from HS.

His dad probably wont last long at UTM and Stewart will transfer to a very strong major D1 program and Joe the Panther Fan and others will be highly upset because they say he cant play D. SMF will be right once again

I'm pretty sure there have been a couple of cases where players who transferred came back to their original schools as grad transfers. Not saying this will happen, but if his dad gets fired, and he fits a need, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Whatever helps Pitt.

So what’s your point? Are you saying it’s not an extraordinary accomplishment? Lots of athletes take summer classes, but almost none are racking up 18 credits per summer like he obviously did.

Probably something irrelevant.

Right about what?

He probably earned a lot of college credits in high school.

The notion that I'll be upset about anything that Parker Stewart does is typical of the stupidity that you post on a regular basis. Why on earth would I care what he does elsewhere? He means no more to me than any of his other teammates at UT-Martin.

How about we just leave him where he's at he's already gotten way too much air time then needed

I would doubt that. Stewart seems like an introverted kid. He committed to play for a AC at Ole Miss then that guy left so his dad had him go play for Kevin Stallings, knowing Stallings likely only had 1-2 years left. When his dad gets fired, he will have him go play for another buddy or maybe the school he ends up taking an AC job at

Dual enrollment. There are very very few kids who earn a high school diploma and an associates degree at the same time, but it can be done. Good for him if he was able to load up on courses and play basketball.

I agree. So he got a degree. He should try for a graduate degree and get on with his life, or just go and do something productive and get a job. He's not that good of a player and he should just hang it up.

It’s kind of funny that fans of Pitt would make light of a student athletes academic excellence. Pitt isn’t getting the one and dones who don’t care a lick about an education . The hypocrisy of college athletics is that it’s about the student /athletes education when really it’s all about advancing to the next level for the kids and winning for the universities which really means money . Recruit a roster full of academic All Americans and watch that coach get fired . Good for him quite an accomplishment !

I don't think anyone's making light of it or don't appreciation his degree or how fast he did it but he's not here no more he wasn't that great he was ok IMO when he was here so I just think people don't care because he's not at Pitt no more!

He's probably good enough to play overseas somewhere.

I’m not so sure his dad’s leash is nearly as short as some think. After being horrible for most of the season they played pretty good ball late last year and have some reason for optimism starting out this year.

If he can go to graduate school and get it paid for and the degree is in something that will help him earn a living, that will serve him much better and much longer than playing a silly game in Europe that he's not very good at anyhow. But knowing these kids, he won't do the smart thing and will do what feels better in the short term.

If they only win five or six conference games like they have the past two seasons he'll be in trouble. But having said that, the bottom of the Ohio Valley is awful, so they certainly will have chances to get wins.

Probably doesn’t help his cause that the guy before him (Heath Schroyer) had some success there, but overall it’s been such a moribund program that I think he would get 2 more years no matter the results.

To show how small a world it is my buddy’s wife worked as a nanny for Heath Schroyer years ago, had nothing good to say about him. Was not surprised, guy was a lunatic on the sideline when head coach at Wyoming.

Some people just want to do it just to say they did. If I could of played a silly game for a few years for pay, I would of jumped at it, and not be in a big rush to get to the COMPLETE DEPRESSING SOUL CRUSHING BOREDOM of the "real world".
