Franklin wants to "QUIET THE PITT/PENN STATE RIVALRY TALK"

Don't say you'll dominate the state when you have a historical rival in the state, schedule a series with that rival for the near future, and then say you want to quiet rivalry talk when you find yourself at the bottom of the totem pole.

Well, first off, Coach Duzz just innuendo'd it wasnt bad, the media is just trying to start something there.

secondly, PSU just was slapped around like a rag doll by OSU, he would have no right to respond in any way, shape of form... so as much as I hate the guy, kudos for him for resisting the response.

he doesn't want it to get too heated because he knows the attention it will bring and he knows his only chance next year is saquon barkley running for about 250 yards and 3 TDs which ain't gonna happen. getting whipped by pitt in 2016 after a year of trash-talking would make his seat hotter than a nuclear explosion with the cult.

He has not been calling into the Fan lately. Guess he doesn't have much to talk about. Zzzzz

He was the one who instigated the entire drama. When he got to PSU, he could say anything he wanted and not be challenged. PC was running the show. He was too meek to respond. His football team reflected his personality. When Narduzzi took over, he continued with his charades thinking Narduzzi would be the same way:

- Calling into the radio show as "James from State College" after they interviewed Narduzzi.

- Flipping two of Pitt's commitments (Givens & Barnes) at the last minute and left no time for Narduzzi to replace them. He showed no interest in those players even though he knew they were interested in PSU. He did it because he knew he could. It was a subtle jab at Narduzzi.

- Then the one thing that REALLY pissed Narduzzi off, was Franklin's unannounced visit to the Steelers practice field next door to Pitt. Why? Because he could... He was just letting Narduzzi know he could walk in anytime he wanted...

So now he don't wanna play anymore because:

- Narduzzi is going to hit back...
- Narduzzi inherited last season's youngest team in the FBS and has his team playing well, unlike Franklin.
- Narduzzi can recruit too

So now he wants to take the high road, so that he can look like the bigger man.... LOL! Everything he does is calculated...

That guy is so full of himself - now that Penn State is not the top dog he wants to quiet things, yeah right.

That's what happens when someone makes promises and can't live up to them. At first I thought it would take some time until he got some players there, but I was told by Vandy fans that the dude can't coach. The numbers Hackenberg should have against the weak part of the schedule are so far from what he has. The team has regressed.

He's doing exactly what the PR firm charged with rescuing PSUs tarnished reputation tells him.

This is priceless and so predictable. Taking the high road with his assistants talking smack on social media. Sure, he says that now - what about then? **Crickets**

He's facing the competitive part of his schedule now. He'll look more foolish than usual if he's engaging in these verbal jousts while he's getting his butt kicked. ;)

He said something similar about Maryland - something to the extent of Maryland might as well stop playing football - then Edsall, an ass clown himself - went to Slappy Valley and ped slapped him. He likes to talk the talk, but he's not to good at walking the walk.

I don't think it's as calculated as it's predictable. I don't reckon the man is that smart. He is just a big talker.

A perfect fit for state college and anyone who buys into it deserves to get Hackenburged.

If I were a Nitter I would at least expect JF to grow some b*lls and stand up for Donovan or Hack, otherwise he's just Duzz's b*tch. Now, if Franklin started off as a quiet guy, ala chryst, it'd be understandable, but JF started playing the cocky bully.

Stand up for them? Until Duzzi becomes bold enough to call them out by name, there is nothing to defend or stand up for. Besides, his offense has been a joke. He would be foolish to defend it even if Duzzi did single them out by name.

I'm sure he does. He talked all his smack right out of the chute and was met with silence to the west. Now there's a new sheriff in town and he;s no shrinking violet. he's using the rivalry talk and social media to generate buzz, to recruit, to be dynamic--and it's working. I'm sure Franklin would like to see it stop. So hopefully Duzzi and the coaches do twice as much of it from now on.

Put up the Capaletti icon already... No Pitt fan would be so defensive of JF...who just like the rest of penn state continually plays the jag off Eddie Haskell routine ... Act bad.. Then wimp out with some "who me?" BS the minute it gets called out... JF fools no one other than the Heavens Gaters...

before he got his a$$ handed to him by Lee at Chanclersville,

I hear all the talk on the radio of people warning Narduzzi because it could come back to bite him. I'm guessing he has thought of that, and personally, I love that expectations are raised now. I have full faith in the staff and the team that they'll back up the coach on Saturday. Hail To Pitt, and go Maryland!

PSU was also the second youngest team in FBS last year with 19 less scholarships than Pitt.

There's no bigger fan of Narduzzi than me, I loved him at MSU and I thought he was the home run hire at Pitt but he's not getting the players he really wants (the coach that gets high praise for spotting and evaluating talent).

17 out of the 20 PSU commits, Narduzzi offered (he wanted them to play for Pitt)

0 out of the 11 Pitt commits, Franklin offered.

I know Narduzzi came in late last year, the ratio was for '15 was even worse for Pitt.
